Manang. Never has this high altitude heaven experienced snowfall in March. Once a rain shadow region under the shadow of the Annapurna range, now receives rainfall in the summers. Tashi R. Ghale tells me things have changed drastically, ever since he was a boy amd someone who was born in Manang. The good thing is that the number of snow leopards have increased, thanks to monitoring and conservation efforts from field biologosts like Tashi and other stakeholders. Prey is plenty but the predator, though have grown in numbers is as elusive as it used to be.

Yvon Chouinard has forfeited ownership of the company he founded 49 years ago. The profits will now be used to fight climate change.

The view from the deck of the Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is panaromic. The Nteko Ridge is located at 2161 M, though this time I wasn't wearing an alti-watch to check. You can see the faint outlines of the Virunga mountain chain in the distance and beyond the highlands and villages in the foreground lies the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the mountain gorillas in south west Uganda.

Kamchatka.

We did three days of exploration after walking upto the Mutnovsky volcano. It was a perfect spot to go and find new ice caves, look for marmots and of course bears. It's bear country, after all. The ground is filled with blue and red berries for the bears to feast. The alpine meadows resembled a magical carpet embroidered with a tapestry of colors woven in beautiful forms. It was sheer fun walking around, breathing in the cold crisp air, listening to the brook and watching the plumes above Mutnovsky in the sky. Kamchatka is wild, beautiful and mesmerizing.
