I have been travelling for most of my life and have been incredibly fortunate to have visited seventy-five countries (so far). I believe in exploring this amazing world, sharing experiences and making connections is what it is all about. I have organised all sorts of holidays

to all sorts of destinations, whether it be luxury, adventure, experiential, re-connection, relaxation, or a mixture of all of the above! Day 13 with and we were off to the red city…

is an incredible city, filled with history, culture and a dash of crazy, which I love!

We dropped our bags, grabbed some lunch and headed into the Medina! What really stood out for me was the ease with which we could wander through the streets of stores without being harassed to look or buy anything, it made the experience so much nicer!

Visiting the was a highlight, from the intricate carving to the dormitories that previously housed the students and learning about the long restoration project that seems to have protected the medersa from the 2023 earthquake.

We headed to the bar for a much needed break from the heat and then we were ready to explore the square and grab some dinner at 😂

Our hotel was located in the new side of Marrakech so we all piled into a “big taxi” - which are plentiful as are uber options and headed back to rest up for another day exploring this beautiful city.

Day 10 with saw us heading into the High Atlas and the Village of Armound to spend the night in a traditional gite or guest house.

This area has become increasingly popular for hiking and (when the weather is right) skiing.

We walked up the mule track with a stop at the Imlil waterfalls and to catch a glimpse of Morocco’s highest peak, in the distance. The trees were laden with cherries and we couldn’t help but purchase a bag to munch on as we walked.

We arrived to the sounds of children singing as the village has its own primary school and relaxed on the balcony before enjoying a chicken cous cous and some of the most delicious melon I’ve tasted!

Day 9 with and we bade farewell to the gorge and headed to

With a pit stop in the rose city of Kalaat M’Gouna to learn about the making of rose water and rose oil we headed onto along the “Route of 1000 Kasbahs” for a lunch stop and an impromptu visit to - Abdul our guide explained the history of the film industry in Morocco and the importance of the studio including its recent decline due to CGI & AI technologies 😔

From here we continued onto the UNESCO World Heritage site and kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou in the Ounila Valley, located in the foothills of the southern slopes of the High Atlas Mountains. The kasbah still houses a few families, but most now live in the adjacent village.

The evening was spent learning the secrets of tagine, and then (not so) patiently waiting to eat our creations!

Day 8 with and we bid farewell to the Sahara and began our journey back to the coast.

Stopping to learn about the marine fossils that were discovered in Erfoud from the Devonian period 360M years ago when the area was covered with water.

A lunch stop at one of the many roadside diners for some more delicious Moroccan salad and Berber Omelette, my fave lunch combo 😍 and onto Todra Gorge and the village of Tinghir.

As the Eid celebrations continued, the gorge was busy with Moroccan families enjoying picnics and long lazy afternoons in the shade of the high gorge walls.

Day 5 with and we spent the day on the edge of the

The bikes were not our mode of transport, instead we hit the road in a 4x4, first stop a dromedary 🐪 (not a camel) farm and nearby farming oasis that supports the local village with shared areas for crop growing (including the almost wiped out local cactus).

From here we headed to the nomad camps to have some tea and learn about their lives, sadly our driver mentioned that some of their relatives live over the border with Algeria and now it’s closed, they are unable to visit. Sad to hear that lines on a map have separated families.

Our last stop was a musical one to hear some locals playing , which emerged in Morocco between the 11th and 17th centuries and is officially designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO

Back to the hotel to enjoy a Berber omelette lunch (yum) and a desert storm 🌧️ before heading back out to the dunes for sunset on camelback.

We finished the day with an impressive fireside drumming performance, sand everywhere and that wonderful happyy tiredness!

Day 5 with and it was a big driving day, which I thoroughly enjoyed!

Having someone do the driving for you is a little travel luxury for me and we had plenty of stops on route including the Moroccan Swiss town of Ifrane, not quite Chamonix but quaint nonetheless.
More stops for snacks, lunch, atms, dress-ups and pringles, before arriving at our hotel on the edge of the outside

I can vouch for the Pringles passport flavour Mexican Cheese & Jalapeño ✅

I’ll give it to those Romans, they certainly knew how to pick a place! Reminiscent of the Tuscan countryside with yet more painter’s landscapes stretching out ahead (which seems to be a recurring theme of our bus rides).

Our lunch stop with the women of AFER at Homlunch was a moment supported by

Running for more than a decade, AFER supports rural women and children (and therefore the communities they reside in) with education, training and care. Filling a much needed void in the rural areas of Morocco.

After a small but determined start, AFER now operates a larger establishment that houses and shelters those who are in need, a true home grown initiative from the heart of one woman. In order to continue their programmes they rely on planeterra, g-adventures and the travellers that visit them for a good meal and to learn about the work they do.

It is what is all about and it was both humbling and inspiring in equal measure, reminding us all what humanity can achieve and the role tourism can play in changing the lives of people for the better.

D4 and we were knocking on the door of

The oldest city in Morocco did not disappoint, the views over the Medina from Borj Sud, the pottery showcase, and then into the 9000+ streets and alleys of the Medina!

What an incredible sensory maze of culture and colour! The tannery, the mosques, museums, university and shrine were all incredible!

Another full day of exploring and experiencing beautiful Morocco 🇲🇦
