One of the things I’m most grateful for about running my own business is the flexibility it gives me.

This summer, I’m spending a few weeks back in the UK, making the most of precious family time while the girls are on holiday 💛

That doesn’t mean work stops. My laptop has come with me, I’m still planning incredible trips, looking after my travelling customers, and this week alone I’ve helped two sets of clients book their next adventures ✈️

The beauty of being part of Travel Counsellors UAE is knowing I also have an incredible support team behind me, so my clients are looked after wherever they are in the world, and wherever I am!

For me, it’s the best of both worlds: making memories with my own family while helping yours make theirs.

For this family, it was their first time using a travel consultant. They wanted support in choosing the right destination for a memorable graduation trip - in this case, they chose Iceland.

Last week’s Fam trip to Vietnam 🇻🇳

I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to join at the last minute - the most spontaneous travel booking I’ve ever made…

…and what an incredible few days! Experiencing 2 different Accor hotels in Hanoi, and a fabulous treat staying aboard Lyra Grandeur in Halong Bay. We visited (lots of!) temples, Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, train street, a traditional puppet show and much more.

We ate (lots of!) the most incredible food and sampled local delicacies like egg coffee and Vietnamese spring rolls…yum! And best of all, I got to spend quality time with some of the best TCs in the business, and our wonderful host from Accor.

Familiarisation trips are definitely a perk of the job - but they serve an important purpose in allowing us to immerse ourselves fully in a destination and experience properties first-hand. Not to mention building personal relationships with our suppliers and of course each other. We then share our knowledge with the TC community to ensure that our clients are matched with the perfect hotels, experiences and destinations to suit their needs.

I always say that if I haven’t been to a destination, I can definitely find someone who has - whether on a personal holiday or a Fam trip. Which is why booking with a Travel Counsellor can instantly elevate your travel experience 🌍✈️

Back at my desk after a wonderful Eid break ☀️

If I've been a little quieter on here lately, it's because the weeks leading up to Eid were a whirlwind of last-minute bookings, enquiries and pre-departure prep for clients heading off on their own adventures. In total, 25 passengers travelled over the holiday period, and it was a privilege to help make those trips happen!

My family and I managed to sneak away too. In a funny twist, a client (and good friend) who had booked a Cyprus holiday through me ended up "selling" the trip back to us... so we joined them!

Even while I was away, I stayed connected with my travelling clients, supported by our fantastic team here in the UAE and at Head Office in the UK. Knowing my clients are looked after wherever they are in the world is something I never take for granted. Being able to work remotely and have the flexibility to make memories with my own family is such a privilege, and one of the best things about being a Travel Counsellor!

After a challenging few months for the travel industry, seeing so many people travelling again, celebrating Eid with loved ones and making special memories has been incredibly rewarding.

To everyone who trusted me with their holiday plans this Eid - thank you. I loved being part of your journey, and I'm excited to help with the next ones too ✨
