When I'm planning a European itinerary, I'm always looking for ways to make the journey just as memorable as the destination.

One of the things I often recommend is an overnight sleeper train.

They're no longer just for backpackers. Today, there are options for almost every style of traveller, from affordable seats and shared couchettes to private sleeper cabins and some of Europe's most iconic luxury rail journeys.

Instead of rushing through airports, you can fall asleep in one city and wake up in another, ready to start exploring. It's a more relaxed way to travel and can become one of the highlights of the trip.

Not every itinerary is suited to a sleeper train, but when it is, it's an experience I love building into my clients' holidays.

Planning a trip to Lake Como?

One thing travel has taught me is that Mother Nature is always in charge.

Nowhere is that more true than in Iceland.

During our Ring Road trip we experienced sunshine, torrential rain, thick fog, gale-force winds and blue skies. Sometimes all within a few hours.

It would have been easy to get frustrated when plans changed, but that's the beauty of Iceland. The weather isn't something to fight, it's part of the experience.

Roads can close, waterfalls look completely different depending on the conditions, and one moment you're wondering why you came, the next you're standing in front of one of the most breathtaking landscapes you've ever seen.

If you're planning an Iceland adventure, my biggest piece of advice is simple:

🧥 Pack for every season.
💙 Leave room for the unexpected.

Some of the best travel memories aren't the ones you plan. They're the ones nature creates for you.
