Note that the smaller planes usually land in the morning and the larger jets late morning/noonish. Maarten's Princess Juliana International Airport is located just off Maho Beach and the beach seems to be part of the runway. As the planes come in for a landing, the people gather to watch as they appear to be passing just out of arm's reach overhead. But all is safe as the planes land on the runaway just across the roadway. It is something that has become synonymous with St. Maarten and Maho Beach. As amazing as the landings are, you will be blown away by the take-offs! Watch as the planes take off from the comforts of the local beach bar and enjoy a cold beverage as you have to see it to believe it all (food and drink not included).
