Spring is already making itself felt in the Atlantic Forest.
Even though it's only August, the blooming lapacho trees and the behavior of the Toco Toucans tell us that a new season is just around the corner.
This toucan is inspecting natural tree cavities—one of the most fascinating behaviors to witness at this time of year. Moments like these are what make every birding tour in Iguazú National Park so special.
Nature always gives the first signs before the calendar does.

Pocho was a wonderful guide to spend the day with. His knowledge and passion for both birding and the Iguazu region were infectious, and the perfect way to see the park, even for those of us with little to no birding experience.

WORLD SWIFT DAY!

One of the greatest satisfactions as a birding guide in Iguazú National Park is showing our birders the Great Dusky Swift. The Iguazú Falls are undoubtedly the best place in the world to see this remarkable species.

In these photos, you can also spot a Collared Swift, which are very uncommon here, and a Biscutate Swift, a species that is exceptionally rare to see in the Iguazú area. And the emblem of the Iguazu National Park In Argentina!

Greetings from the home of the Great Dusky Swift!

My wife and I had an excellent birding experience in Puerto Iguazú. Fernando was incredibly knowledgeable about both the birds and the Atlantic Forest ecosystem, and his ability to identify species by sight and sound was impressive. He quickly located birds that we would never have found on our own, including many endemics.

He was also happy to share information about local wildlife, conservation, and the history of the region, which added a lot to the experience.

Beyond birding, he can also conduct tours to both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of Iguazú Falls, including priority border crossing assistance, making it easy to maximize your time and experience the best viewpoints on both sides.

We would highly recommend Fernando to anyone visiting Puerto Iguazú. The birdlife around Iguazú Falls is spectacular, and having a skilled local guide makes all the difference. It was one of the highlights of our visit to Puerto Iguazu.

Thank you very much, Annette and Jim, for trusting me and for sharing your time with me. It was a genuine pleasure to spend these days together. Safe travels, and I hope to see you again someday!!

I had a rewarding day birding around Iguazu with Pocho. While it was too wet to bird Route 101, we picked up many of my target birds on the Macuco Trail in Iguazu National Park, then headed to Jardin de los Picaflores where we added a further 7 hummingbird species. Highlights included White Bearded, Swallow Tailed and Band Tailed Manakins, Toco Toucan and Yellow Fronted Woodpecker.

Pocho is an excellent guide, with an awesome knowledge of calls and great fun to bird with. Beyond the birding, he sorted all of the logistics for my trip — all in all a seamless experience.

Thank you Pocho!

Una gran persona, gran pajarero, gran cliente y ahora nuevo amigo! Thanks for trusting Charlie!!
