ABW (Adelaide Bushwalkers) Monthly Meeting 1st Wed of the month. We are an Adelaide based Hiking club specialising in multi-day hikes carrying full packs and camping gear.

Adelaide Bushwalkers club specialise in multi-day wilderness hiking with full packs and camping gear along with other complementary activities such as day walks, kayaks, cycling and social activities for our members. We sometimes do day walks, cycle events, and kayak trips. Most activities are near Adelaide, around SA & sometimes interstate. The club is run by volunteers. If you enjoy the outdoors

, are moderately fit and interested in multi-day hiking, we would encourage you to come along to one of our meetings and find out more. Meetings are held in the North Adelaide Community Centre, situated at 176 Tynte Street, North Adelaide. The club meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month to enjoy a presentation (by a guest speaker) and get updates on club business. Each meeting begins at 7:30pm and usually goes til 9pm. During the middle break the Membership Secretary can answer any new member questions you may have.

A new 4 day walk in NSW:
Gidjuum Gulganyi means ā€˜Old People’s Track’ in the language of the Aboriginal Peoples who have been walking these ridges and valleys for millennia. This remarkable 4-day walk links Mount Jerusalem and Nightcap national parks in the Tweed Byron Hinterland.

Come along to the April club meeting Wednesday 2nd April - 7:30pm North Adelaide community centre. Our guest speaker is Andrew Spanner talking about the 3000km Te Araroa trail in NZ.

The trail spans the length of New Zealand and showcases the wide range of landscapes on offer. However, walker experiences on Te Araroa are often very different to their expectations. Andrew completed the trail in 2021 and will share what he learned.

ADVANCE NOTICE 2025: TRAIL CLOSURES FOR FERAL PEST CONTROL
The Friends has receive early notice of closures in 2025 following consultation about communication challenges last year.

Sunday 18 to Friday 23 May: Deep Creek & Fleurieu Parks (except Newland Head CP)
Monday 2 June to Friday 6 June: Nth Adelaide Hills ForestrySA & private land.
Tuesday 10 June to Friday 13 June: eastern Mt Crawford.

Campsite & event bookings will be blocked for the dates above. Any bookings already in place will be managed through communication with option to change dates or cancel and get refund. (at time of preparing details are not yet listed on ForestrySA website).

Mid-North Rangelands: The feral animal control program is scheduled in April during the Fire Danger Season Closure period. The Friends welcome this decision as it has no impact on hiking for 2025.

Simon Goodwin will lead a sympathetic and objective look at the recent fatality of a Canberra man on Mount Anne in July. The session will involve a group discussion to share observations and identify what went wrong and why, with aim of learning and improving our own approach to similar situations in challenging environments.

A scenic, multi-day walk is being finalised for Tasmania to rival the popular Overland Track. But some critics worry about the region's high rainfall, with about 216 days of rain a year.
