We've transported five picnic tables from the Oyster Farm Shop in American River to the Eco Park! We are excited for them to become part of the Eco Park, providing even more opportunity for guests to connect with nature. They were made by a friend of a friend with plantation pine, and have since been lovingly sanded and oiled by Morgane. There's nothing better than a outdoor bbq or a platter of local produce enjoyed amongst the trees, with the sounds of waves breaking and birds singing. 🐦 🍲

The paving of our camp shelter is the start of many upgrade projects planned for the Eco Park. We have wanted to put a floor in the camp shelter for years, and with the help of Morgane and Joe we finally did it! The duo had never paved before so this was one of the many new skills they picked up during their time at the park. The camp shelter is a place where campers will be able to gather, and is ideal for group bookings. 🏕🦘

We are so very lucky that the stars aligned for us to meet Morgane and Joe on the Eyre Peninsula 6 months ago. They joined our team to do cabin cleans and maintenance and have picked up many new skills along the way including learning to pave, drive tractors, use chainsaws, cut wood, oil, paint, build retainer walls, concrete, do basic plumbing and so much more! We hope they are very proud of the work they have done! When you come to stay with us you may even find their names etched in some of their projects! We have offered to adopt them or abduct them, but unfortunately they need to move on and have more adventures ❤️ Morgane and Joe will forever be part of our Creek Bay family! 🍃🌊

The Eco Park is currently home to two humble eco-friendly cabins, an amenities centre, and a camp shelter. We are excited to share more about the sustainability practices we adopted at a time when ecotourism was just at its infancy. In a market saturated with greenwashing, we aim to provide a truly eco-friendly experience with minimal environmental impact. We have worked with many locals on our journey with the Eco Park so far, and our community continues to grow with backpackers and friends showing their support. Our friends Lenny and Alice recently took these photos of eco cabins: ‘Nautilus’ and ‘Blue Wren.’ We have been lovingly refurbishing them and bringing them into their next chapter. Along with refurbishing we have also been working on many infrastructure projects, with the help of backpackers Morgane and Jo, and our friend Sheena. Soon, more people will be able to experience all the Eco Park has to offer. 👒🚣‍♀️🐨

The Creek Bay property became a sacred place for our family, when the kids, Jess (now 23), and Kimbo (now 20) came along. "We spent much of our childhood running around the bay playing pretend, entertaining ourselves and ‘helping’ Mum clean the cabins.” The girls had friends stay and enjoyed sharing the property. “Now we are excited to share it with more people, as we know the importance of having somewhere to escape to.” 🪹💌🐾

Adjacent to the beloved Chapman River is our family’s special place: Creek Bay Eco Park. Just beyond the sand dunes, the river mouth meets the sea at Antechamber Bay Beach—a stunning, four-kilometre stretch where solitude is often yours to enjoy. The park thrives with native wildlife and scrub regenerated from grazing land, and is surrounded by the Lashmar Conservation Park, giving the island's east end an untouched feel. Nearby, local cellar doors offer a taste of the region. Those who have stayed at the Eco Park appreciate the healing powers of nature and the environment, and describe it as the perfect setting for an authentic Kangaroo Island experience. 🌊🌱

Thank you so much for following along with our oyster adventures! With the oyster chapter now closed for us, we would like to share another story. The story of Creek Bay Eco Park. We have cared for this magical property, nestled between Chapman River and Antechamber Bay Beach, since 1998. In what feels like a return home, to what originally brought us to Kangaroo Island, we can’t wait to share this slice of paradise and true eco experience with you. Prepare for a taste of off grid, island life, as we get back to nature at the Eco Park.

It is with much sadness that we have made the difficult decision to ‘PAUSE’ the Oyster Farm Shop this Summer whilst we reset.

This is due to the farm shop business not being sold before peak season, travel plans affecting the availability of our current Shop Manager, and Ken and Amanda stepping away from the business due to other commitments.

Our last day of trading this year will be Friday 22nd November. We apologise for any disappointment this decision may cause visitors, locals and suppliers over Summer and we thank you all for your understanding.

We thank our awesome team (past and current) for their patience and efforts during this difficult time.

Local oysters will, no doubt, still be available from the sheds on the wharf during this time so keep an eye on KI Oysters socials for updates.

Watch this space for updates on the next chapter...

Our Story

Visit our farmgate located across the road from our farm - the only commercial oyster farm on Kangaroo Island. Not a restaurant, fish and chip shop or a fish monger - we are a unique farm gate experience. We farm Pacific Oysters, and using two farming techniques, produce our Deep Water Premiums and Coastal Creams. Deep Water Premiums are reknown for their frilly, ornate shell with plump, succulent meat; Coastal Creams rumbled by the surf producing a clean smooth shell with delicious meat that fills the shell. The Oyster Farm Shop is a provedore of Kangaroo Island aquaculture and local sustainable seafood including Kangaroo Island Abalone, King George Whiting, Marron, smoked fish/oysters/mussels and a range of locally made sauces and condiments to complement our products. Taste from the Local Produce Farmshop menu, but dont expect silverware, fine china or table service - expect delicious, fresh, local produce prepared simply to share with friends along with local wines, ciders and ales! Alternatively gather up a feast of island produce to prepare and enjoy at your accommodation. Either way, a visit to the Oyster Farm Shop is a must for the freshest oysters on Kangaroo Island. Ask for a free tasting of our farmgate Sheoak Smoked Oysters.
