The Picnic Press

The Picnic Press where good food meets the great outdoors Our aim is to inspire you to get outside and away from the 'daily grind'. So that’s the format. Fun, huh! We don’t mind.

The Picnic Press is a food and lifestyle blog which showcases great places to pick up food (such as markets, delis, grocers and cafes) and pairs that with great outdoor spaces in which to enjoy it. This also gives us the perfect, selfish excuse to do what we love doing anyway - i.e. traipse around finding delicious food and beautiful locations. In our minds, a picnic doesn't have to be that hard o

r require too much work and, theoretically, you don't have to prepare much if you don't want to. Of course, you can opt to cook up a feast or make something special - and sometimes we'll do this too and pass on our recipes. Our qualifications:

We both come from large European families where our appetites and culinary appreciations have been highly encouraged. While we have no formal picnic qualifications per se, we come with lots of childhood picnic experience and a good sense of adventure. I am also fairly confident that I am a very good eater. Mark is a talented photographer and will be taking beautiful pictures to make it a feast for the eyes too. You can check out his professional page here for more great photography: http://www.markjayphotography.com. Copyright in all photographs belongs to Mark Jay Photography. Our destinations:

Most of our picnics will take place in and around Sydney, NSW but we try to get out of town as much as possible and we will set out our road trippin' adventures for getaway inspiration. You may wish to follow our picnic dates as we've sequenced them or just mix and match our ideas. Depending on where you live, The Picnic Press may just be a source of inspiration for you. In fact, we encourage you to get creative, explore and find the hidden picnic gems in your neighbourhood. Get outside! Also, we welcome ideas and comments and will happily feature fabulous foodie destinations on request if you have suggestions. You can contact us at [email protected]. There are only 3 rules:

1. Be considerate and don’t leave a mess behind (although we trust you wont do that)
2. Bring the best quality food that you can find or make (just because you're outdoors doesn't mean you should compromise)
3. Above all, make it easy and fun

So, pack your blanket and let’s go! L&M

I feel like a bad blogger. I made it sound casual in the headline, like we just got back, but reality is that we have been back now for about 8 weeks. 8 weeks. Where did that go?! I've had "The Pic...

Read this and swap your 'al desk-o' lunch break for an alfresco lunch today: http://thepicnicpress.com/2014/06/19/the-hyde-park-lunch-break-picnic/

Do you stop for lunch? I have to admit, I am someone who frequently takes my lunch break at my desk in front of my computer. I multitask eating with responding to emails, paying bills or doing othe...
