Carnarvon Gorge Canyons & Heron Island Coral Cays | 13 August 2026 Departure

From ancient sandstone gorges to the coral cays of the Great Barrier Reef, this one covers some of Queensland's best in nine days. Here are a few photos from along the way.

We were also thrilled to welcome Chris Parsons and the Weekender team back on board to film an upcoming episode, so keep an eye out for that one on your screens soon.

The journey headed west through Toowoomba and Roma into Carnarvon Gorge National Park, where the group joined Australian Nature Guides for walks through the gorge, including the Moss Garden, before lunch and a tour at Greycliffe Homestead and a night in Gladstone.

The heart of the trip came next, two nights on Heron Island in the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef, where naturalist eco guides led the way discovering the birdlife, native flora and fauna, and reef walking the coral cay at low tide. Back on the mainland it was two nights at Agnes Water, taking in the full-day Pink Amphibious LARC Paradise Tour out to the historic Bustard Head Lightstation, before a stop at Childers on the way home.

Rhinestones & Country Roads | A Special Tribute to Dolly

Get your rhinestones ready, our brand new Dolly Parton tour is now open for bookings!

This one is a heartfelt celebration of Dolly, her music, warmth, humour and sparkle, and it's been created simply because we love Dolly. We'll fill the coach with her greatest songs, share stories and memories, and add plenty of sparkle and fun along the way.

Over six days you'll travel from Brisbane through country New South Wales and back home via the Granite Belt. The highlight is the Narromine Dolly Parton Festival, with a morning Street Party and an evening concert full of tribute performances, live music and best-dressed fun. Along the way there's a guided town tour of Goondiwindi, Australia's Country Music Capital at Tamworth with the Big Golden Guitar and the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame, a long lunch among the vines at Meteora Vineyard, and plenty of country roads, long lunches and sparkle in between.

Departing 8 October 2026. Spots on this one won't last long, so to book or find out more, give our office a call or email [email protected].

🚌 The results are in, and our new coaches finally have names!

What a response. Thank you to every single one of you who submitted a name and then came back to vote on our finalists. Choosing between them was genuinely difficult, and reading through your entries gave the whole office a laugh more than once.

So without further ado, please give a warm welcome to:

πŸ’Ž Argyle joining our Diamond Class fleet
✨ Prima-Rita joining our Gold Class fleet

Now, a quick note on how we picked our winners. Both names were so good that plenty of you thought of them independently, so to keep things fair we went with the first person to submit each name.

Congratulations to Kylie M and Margaret S! Our office will be in touch shortly to organise your travel vouchers. πŸŽ‰

To everyone who entered, thank you for getting behind this one. Keep an eye out for Argyle and Prima-Rita on the road soon. πŸ’›

Thank you, Dolly. ❀️

This week the world said goodbye to someone truly special. Dolly Parton was so much more than an extraordinary singer and songwriter. She brought joy, warmth, humour and kindness to generations of people.

For our CEO Toni, Dolly has always held a particularly special place in her heart, which makes this week's news especially sad.

So in October, we're going to celebrate her.

From 8 to 13 October 2026, Fun Over 50 Holidays will be travelling to the Dolly Parton Festival for a very special tour dedicated to celebrating her music, memories and incredible legacy. Toni and Rob will be travelling with our FUNstars, singing the songs we all know and remembering the woman behind them.

This isn't simply another tour. It's our chance to say thank you, Dolly.

The tour will be released next week, but the waitlist is open now. Call us on 1300 554 505 or email [email protected] to add your name. 🌸

Icons of Outback Queensland | 1 August

Dinosaurs, drovers, stations and stars, this one packs a lot into eight days, and our latest group has just wrapped it up. Here are a few photos from along the way.

It all began aboard the Spirit of the Outback, an overnight rail journey in sleeper cabins through the heritage towns of the Central West, arriving into Barcaldine to visit the Tree of Knowledge. From there it was on to Longreach for three nights, taking in the Qantas Founders Museum, the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Stockman's Show, and a Thomson River sunset cruise with dinner and a show under the stars.

The journey then rolled on to Winton for the Australian Age of Dinosaurs and the Waltzing Matilda Centre, before traversing the Channel Country to Toogunna Plains Farmstay for two nights, with a Kyra Sandhills sunset, a station tour and the Tastes of the Outback dinner at the Eromanga Natural History Museum. The final stretch took in the opal town of Quilpie, the Outback Date Farm and the Bilby Experience at Charleville, before a night in Roma and the trip home.

Lake Eyre in Flood | 6 August 2026 Departure

Eight days across the heart of outback South Australia, and this group saw plenty of it. Here are a few photos from along the way.

The trip made its way north through Port Augusta and the Wadlata Outback Centre up to Coober Pedy, the opal capital of the world, with the Umoona Opal Mine tour before continuing on to William Creek.

The big one came next, a 90-minute flight over Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre, taking in Halligan Bay, Belt Bay and the vast expanse of the lake in flood. The outback weather then had other ideas, and rather than let it cut the trip short, we re-routed the group down to the beautiful Barossa Valley to round out the week. It's not how the map was drawn, but the group made the most of it and were looked after every step of the way.

Outback Queensland, Gulf & Savannah Safari | 5 August 2026

Twelve days deep into Queensland's outback, from the dinosaur country of the west to the Gulf and the Savannah. Here are a few photos from along the way.

The journey rolled west through Roma, Tambo and Blackall into Longreach for the Qantas Founders Museum and the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame, then on to Winton for the Australian Age of Dinosaurs. From there it was north through Crocodile Dundee country at the Walkabout Creek Hotel, up to Karumba for a Sand Island sunset dinner cruise on the Gulf.

Then came the rail journeys this tour is built around, the Gulflander and the Savannahlander, along with two nights at Cobbold Gorge for a scenic helicopter flight and a boat cruise through the gorge, a guided tour of the ancient Undara Lava Tubes, and a final night in Cairns.

Introducing our Helping Hand Holiday. 🀝

A special purpose-led 9 day journey through regional Queensland in late September/October 2026, created for travellers over 50 who want their holiday to mean a little more.

When group tours are cancelled or visitation drops in quieter times of year, regional accommodation providers, attractions, cafes and shops all feel it. This journey is about filling those gaps, stepping in where other groups have cancelled and putting real visitors back into the communities that need them. Fun Over 50 Holidays is helping to make it possible by donating our Gold Class coach, two experienced on-road crew and the fuel for the entire journey.

This one's a little different to our usual tours. You pay upfront for your accommodation only, then pay as you go for meals and experiences along the way, so your holiday spending goes directly to the local businesses and suppliers we're travelling to support. Our coach gets you comfortably from town to town and acts as your shuttle in each destination, making it easy to get out and enjoy the attractions, cafes, shops and experiences you choose.

Brisbane to Longreach and back, through Roma, Barcaldine, the Sapphire Gemfields, Biloela, Gayndah and more, with three nights glamping at Mitchell Grass Retreat along the way.

One coach. Real bookings. A helping hand for regional Queensland.
