We’ve just wrapped up another incredible tour through South-East Asia. This trip took us through Singapore and Thailand and allowed us to revisit some of our all-time favourite locations.

This trip saw us target a huge range of species including Mammals, Birds and Reptiles. This Lar Gibbon encounter was one of dozens of incredible mammal encounters we had on this trip.

Plenty more updates to come so stay tuned!

Day 3 of our tour marked our final day in Singapore — and it also delivered the biggest find of the trip so far.

When originally planning this tour, our guests had one species in mind that didn’t quite fit into the itinerary we had prepared. Because of that, we decided to add a three-day stop in Singapore. That species was the Blue Coral Snake (Calliophis bivirgatus).

Arguably one of the most beautiful snakes on Earth, this species sat firmly at the top of our target list and was the sole reason for our stay in Singapore.

After three full days of searching, it was starting to look like we might leave empty-handed… until we struck gold — blue gold.

I didn’t photograph the individual we found, so instead here’s a photo of another individual I recently encountered in Peninsular Malaysia.

After a short hiatus from Asian Tours we are back at it again. We are currently touring through Singapore and Thailand with a great group of guys. Given that our guests on this tour are generalists our target list is a mix of Reptiles Mammals and Birds.

Singapore was the first stop of the tour and one of our major trip targets was ticked off early. This big female Wagler’s Pit Viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri) was one of many that we came across during our short stay in the country. Despite being common in the area these vipers are absolutely stunning and are always a welcome sight for our guests!

Our most recent tour into the brigalow belt turned up one of Australia’s few arboreal elapids, a Pale-headed Snake.
While almost all of our snakes can climb, this species is particularly adapted to leaving in trees, sheltering in hollows or under loose bark during the day and coming out at night to hunt.

Rainforest Dragons are another favourite species we have been targeting on this season’s reptile tours! Sunshine Coast hinterland has some beautiful rainforest that is perfect habitat for these beautiful lizards.

Mulga Snakes have been another big target of this season’s reptile tours and we have been stoked to have multiple sightings of them each time we went into their range.
SE Qld is a great region to run tours as it offers such a broad range of habitats. Within a few hours we can move from hinterland rainforest to the edges of the outback.

We’ve been having some great reptile tours around SE QLD this season. One of my personal highlights was a successful night spotlighting for the elusive Stephen’s Banded Snake.

While on a recent tour in southern WA we tried a couple of spots along the coastline in search of Rock Parrots. Unfortunately all we saw at the first spot was a Great White Shark, but thankfully the second location we tried had a great population of this small, green bird.

Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats were the number 1 target for a recent South Australia Tour. Despite being nocturnal, we were lucky enough to get a few great sightings during the golden hour.

Another highlight of our recent South-west WA tour was finding this pair of Honey Possums curled up in an old honeyeater’s nest to sleep out the day in comfort and safety.

Herping highways doesn’t sound very effective, but some of our rural Australian highways coax plenty of snakes and lizards out to bask. This Northern Blue-tongued Skink is a great example of why we’ve always got our eyes peeled on our tours.
