π Huge congratulations to our Owner & Director, Roderic Rees (better known to us as Roddy), on his appointment to the Tourism and Events Queensland Board.
Roddy has spent decades championing Tropical North Queensland tourism, advocating for regional operators, and helping create world-class visitor experiences. We're incredibly proud to see his dedication, leadership and passion recognised at a state level.
Here's what Roddy had to say about the appointment:
"I am incredibly proud, both as a Queenslander and a regional tourism operator, to join the Board of Tourism and Events Queensland at such a pivotal time for our visitor economy.
Queensland's greatest strength lies in the diversity of our destinations. From the Tropical North and the Outback to our islands, beaches and vibrant metropolitan centres, every region contributes to the unique experiences that make Queensland one of the world's most desirable places to visit, explore and invest in.
I look forward to contributing to strategies that maximise the economic impact of tourism, strengthen our global competitiveness and ensure growth opportunities are shared right across Queensland. As a director, I will be passionate about being a strong regional voice at the board table and ensuring the needs, opportunities and aspirations of regional Queensland are well represented.
With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, Queensland has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to showcase our state to the world. By leveraging major events, strengthening aviation connectivity and continuing to invest in world-class visitor experiences, we can create lasting economic benefits that extend well beyond the Games.
I am excited to work alongside my fellow directors, industry partners and the talented TEQ team to help ensure Queensland remains Australia's leading tourism and events destination for decades to come."
