This is the back of the Beechworth gaol. Had a really interesting tour but I was sad to see this area where some prisoners are buried in unmarked graves. I hope one day there will be some sort of permanent memorial 🥹

I didn't realise Flora Blundell (senior) was a midwife...like me 💓💓 . Sarah

These two women look to be enjoying the snow outside Blundell's Cottage, the now heritage-listed house on the northern shore of Lake Burley Griffin.
A living museum today, the cottage was built by George Campbell in 1858 for his ploughman William Ginn.
Flora Blundell, a midwife, and her husband George, a bullock driver for Campbell, moved in to the cottage in 1874 and lived there until 1933.

Too cold to take as much time as I would have liked to look around the Bendigo Cemetery. Needless to say, there were some very poignant stories on some of the early gravestones. Note the final photo of the tribute to the Chinese people buried in the cemetery 💞

Today I visited the old Cobram bridge that was built in 1902 and closed 2006. Sadly, in 1921 James Mackenzie was crushed to death by a wagon against a post of the bridge. Wonder if he haunts the bridge 👻👻
