Part 1 - In the beginning…

It was towards the end of 1871, after a storm spooked their horses, that Jupiter Mosman, an aboriginal horseboy for prospecting party Hugh Mosman, George Clarke & John Fraser, first found gold near where Mosman Street, Rainbow Road and Black Jack Road are today. It sparked a gold rush in early 1872, which created our amazing Charters Towers City.

Recently we did a survey on the Charters Towers Community Discussion Page ...

The NUMBER 1️⃣ thing to do in the region (voted by Community Members) was to go to the TORS DRIVE IN 🥰 - under our stunning northern skies 🌛⭐🌌

We can't wait till they re-open 📽🎬🚘🚗🌠

UPDATE.

Good morning, and we hope that this finds you all well.

It's been genuinely humbling and touching to see the interest in our future re-opening. While we’ve tried to address every phone call and query, we apologise for any that we may have missed, and/or on Facebook or otherwise as we are very much hands on with our other business interests, and have been kept busy with repairing and maintenance tasks while closed.

Every cinema operates under its’ own particular circumstances and while many have re-opened or very soon will, we regretfully advise that we won’t be at this stage. Before we bring back movies under the stars to this region, there are a number of issues that need to be negotiated for us to move forward – many of which are beyond our control in terms of movie availability, restrictions and viability. For these same reasons, we can't provide a timeframe for re-opening yet, and we can honestly say that this situation is more frustrating for us than it is for anyone else. We thank you for your patience in anticipation.

We are, as always, positive and hopeful that we’ll be seeing your smiling faces sooner, rather than later, so please stay tuned to this page for further updates.

A wonderful ANZAC DAY tribute from our Council

It was suppose to be a trip of a life time - The Kokoda Trail for ANZAC DAY 2020.. with months of planning and training.

Patricia and Kate were devastated to find out their long awaited journey to New Guinea had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 - and so their NEW CHALLENGE began....

EVERY Day of their proposed itinerary for Kokoda was trekked in Charters Towers - 100klms in total, some days were 11klms others over 20Klms - BUT they did it, and on the way they found some wonderful war relevant historical places and hidden treasures.

TODAY they completed KOKODA .. I met them at Centenary Park to take their Photo as they finished!

Congratulations Patricia and Kate - you are both truly inspirational
