Life is not always perfect, sometimes I cookexperiment and it is a complete fail. I want to share my failures with you, because that's how we learn. I learnt not to listen to "influencers" and try their recipes!
This is trying to use natural colouring to make custard tarts. The tasted so bad I was gagging.

No carrot dried and powdered doesn't work, nor does store bought greens powder or acai berry powder.

In fact the only one that tasted good was the one I followed my instincts on and used my own blackberry preserve!

Never again will I watch someone else's reel and go - oh yeah I'll give that a crack. Lesson learnt follow your own content and instincts Ingrid!
Looks pretty but tasted gross 😝

How to spot yellow stainer mushrooms 🍄 while these mushrooms are not toxic, they are responsible for 80% of people's bad experiences picking wild mushrooms. Because they look so much like store bought mushrooms people see them as safe, but there are a few things to guide you safely away from these tricky bu**ers.
1- yellow change of colour
2- growing closely together in a cluster
3- cube like tops
4-smells a bit like cat p**s or bleach 🤔

Epic foraging day with my family
✅️Mushrooms for drying and dinner.
✅️Dock seeds &
✅️Plantain seeds for Oscar's 1st ever sourdough bread - with his little sister 'helping' - even our sourdough starter is wild yeast from the skin of elderberry fruits!
✅️Hawthorn berries for Haw Tarts
✅️Blackberries for jam
✅️Quinces for dessert
✅️Gorse flowers to dry and powder for yellow colouring & flavour
✅️Wild chives for the Mushroom sauce
✅️Sloe plums to make Sloe Gin 🍸

All that within a few minutes of home. Free Food really is all around us.

We spent the rest of the rainy cold day together cooking, preserving and infusing our wild ingredients into their various tasty and medicinal treats.
Today just made my heart smile, cause this is how life is meant to be ❤️
Now I'm exhausted and off to enjoy a sloe gin in the bath!
