Will Hardcastle, who has worked with Peter Lowe Design (previously Lexcen Lowe Design) for 30 years as design associate, is re-launching the highly regarded business as Will Hardcastle Yacht Design. After 55 years in the boat design and building industry, Peter Lowe is “semi retiring” but will continue to work with Will on a part-time basis while Will takes over the day-to-day operation of the design office in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Peter’s career started with a boat-building apprenticeship in Rose Bay. However, he quickly progressed to designing boats that have included everything from Americas Cup yachts to trailer-sailers, superyachts and runabouts. Will studied yacht and boat design at the Southampton College of Higher Education, sailed and raced yachts over half the globe and settled in Australia – where he still sails at every possible opportunity.
Designs Will and Peter have been responsible for include:
* Eleven designs for Warren Yachts, including the international award-winning S87, the S77, S120 and MY Crystal Lady.
* Three designs for Evolution Yachts in Western Australia – the international award-winning 110ft MY Salacia, 80ft MY Crystal Blue and Evolution 55m.
* Aquabay 70 Motor Yacht for TC Yachts Taiwan.
* Mustang 46 Sports Cruiser for Mustang Cruisers.
* Buizen 52 Performance Cruising Sloop for Buizen Yachts.
* Asan 43 Flybridge Cruiser for Hyundai Yachts South Korea.
* UB 770 Centre Console and the SF 580 Runabout for Southwind Marine.
* Divine 29 Classic Speedboat for Divinecraft.
* And last but not least, to show the versatility of our business – the just released Cygnet 20, water-ballasted, gaff-rigged with carbon spars trailer-sailer for Bluewater Yachts.
