🏊‍♀️They certainly don't build them like this anymore, and what better way to view this historic bridge than to swim in the beautiful water below. This amazing bridge at Little Crystal Creek is only 61 kilometres north of 🚗

Mount Spec Road stretches some 18 kilometres from its junction with the old Bruce Highway to the western outskirts of Paluma and along it you will find the Little Crystal Creek Bridge, which is well worth the stop.

Take an epic detour to the abandoned Mary Kathleen Mine, just 50km from Cloncurry,beacuse WOW—it’s even more impressive in person! 😍 This massive former uranium mine, active from the 1950s to 1982, is surrounded by history and incredible views. 🌊✨

The striking blue water? That’s from minerals like copper washing off the mine walls. While it looks tempting for a swim, they say it’s still slightly radioactive (don’t worry, not too high!). 🧪

Just 6km from the mine, you’ll find the old Mary Kathleen township site, now a popular free camp. Wandering through the remnants of this once-bustling town was like stepping back in time—hard to believe the mine closed only in the 80s! ⛏️🏚️

A word of advice: bring a 4WD! The track out there is a mix of rocky gravel, broken bitumen, and some serious potholes. But trust us, it’s SO worth the adventure. 🚙💨
