If I asked you the first thing that came into your mind if I said... "Bundaberg" and you answered anything other than "Rum" Some may consider you Un-Australian.
Bundaberg distillery was founded in 1888 and is one of Australia oldest distilleries.
But there is actually a lot more to Bundaberg than just rum. Bundy is a regional city surrounded with rural farms growing all manner of fruit and veg. Bundy has rich red volcanic soil and is approximately 15 minutes from the surrounding coastal settlements of Bargara, Burnett and Elliott Heads.
The weather has been warm during the day 24* but can cool off at night.
Bundaberg is also known as the tomato capital of Australia.
It's the largest macadamia-producing region in Australia. They also grow Berries, Avocados, Lychees, Melons, Passionfruit, Figs, Mandarins and other citrus, Capsicums, Chilies, Zucchini, Sweet potatoes, Beans, Snow peas, Brussels Sprouts, Pineapples, Cattle and Ginger (they also have the Bundaberg Ginger Beer factory). Most of which can be purchased at roadside stalls.
Did I mention Sugar Cane? after all they need to get Black Strap Molasses from somewhere to make the world famous Bundy Rum. 😁
