Enjoying our fourth year of Island Life on Fraser Island/K'gari for now ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿš™ We swim, we snorkel, we hike and we sail.

We haven't got time to get old, old age can p**s off. There's a life to be lived and adventures to be told. Horizons are to be discovered and mountains to explore. Someone told me to get a life and so we did. Being an Executive isn't all it's cracked up to be. There has to be more to life than work all week and spend all weekend doing chores. Say goodbye to Groundhog day. My favourite ever movie line: I'll get enough sleep when I'm dead. Adele and Kev

Just Send It, Ngkala Rocks ๐Ÿ›ป

I wanted to tell you the history of our latest Shirt design ๐Ÿ˜Š

We were up at Ngkala Rocks and a 4wd was bogged, just normal right. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So we went to help and the guy explained his learner driver son was driving. ๐Ÿค”

I thought yeah ok, interesting choice but why not.

So I asked what pressure he had the tyres at, he said about 20psi.

Hmmmm ๐Ÿ˜€

Ok pass me your tyre guage and I'll check I asked.

We don't have one was the response. ๐Ÿคท

So I went to my car and got my tyre gauge and started letting air out.

After a bit I checked the gauge and it was 30psi. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Obviously he had his son driving on his Learners and tyres were 40psi.

With that the Ngkala Rocks, Just Send It shirt with the 40psi Club number plate was born. ๐Ÿคฃ

The image used in the shirt is from a photo from Ngkala Rocks.

The photo was from a pic I took of our great friend Elizabeth when she got bogged there coming back from the Cape one day. ๐Ÿ˜

That's how the new T shirt design came about.

We've sold 14 of the shirts in the last couple of days and I've been sharing the story with them so I thought I'd let you know too.

If you'd liked one just send us a message or drop in to see us at Sailfish on Fraser at Happy Valley ๐Ÿ‘

If you're planning your first 4wd trip to Fraser Island, now named K'gari, here's some basic things you should know. ๐Ÿ‘

It's really a lot easier than you're imagining. ๐Ÿ˜€

You will need a 4wd ๐Ÿ›ป, you don't need anything particularly fancy but a 4wd and bring some recovery tracks, a tyre pressure gauge and a fold up shovel will do the trick if you do happen to find yourself buried in the sand. ๐Ÿ˜‰

A tip on getting bogged. If you find you can't move, stop revving the engine. Spinning the tyres will just bury yourself deeper and make it much harder to get yourself out.

There's almost always someone who's kind enough to help if you get in any trouble so don't stress. ๐Ÿ˜Š

2 options to get here, River Heads near Hervey Bay or Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach. ๐Ÿ–

The main differences are:
You have to book for the River Heads barge, at Inskip you turn up any time of the day and drive on.

River Heads barge takes 45-50 minutes, Inskip Point is 10 minutes
Cost at River Heads barge is around $320, cost at Inskip Point is $150

From River Heads you arrive on Fraser Island at Kingfisher Resort and if staying on the Eastern Beach you drive for another 50 -60 minutes across the island to Eurong.

From Inskip Point you land at Hook Point, the very southern tip of Fraser Island and drive up the beach. It takes about 35-40 minutes to Eurong at low tide. ๐Ÿš™

Tyre pressure needs to be deflated to 20psi.

Eli Creek can sometimes be impassable at High tide.

Travelling the island is all about tides. Drive as close to low tide, ideally always within 3 hours either side of Low and organise to be walking, hiking, exploring, fishing, swimming and eating over the high tide period. ๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿฆฏ๐ŸŠ

Do not try to get close to a Dingo, don't try to interact with it, don't feed it, leave it alone, keep your distance and use your zoom to get closer photos.

Once again, Leave it Alone. ๐Ÿซต

Must see places are
Lake McKenzie
Eli Creek
Ch*****ne Pools
Maheno Wreck

Also try to see the western beach at Woralie, do the walk into Lake Wabby, check out the Rock Pools at Waddy Point and admire the inland rainforest. ๐Ÿ˜

Drone rules apply on Fraser Island
You must be aware of and comply with all CASA laws plus you can not fly above campgrounds and you can no longer fly a Drone at Lake McKenzie

No fires ๐Ÿ”ฅ are allowed on Fraser except at specific campgrounds or in private rental houses.

Dogs and pets are not allowed on the island. If a Dingo gets hold of your pet it will be goodnight nurse and you'll receive a large fine.

Fraser Island is National Park.

Police live on Fraser Island and are very active so apply all driving laws as applied and as you would normally. ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿš”

There is only Telstra phone coverage around some of the local townships, otherwise expect to have no or very limited coverage.

Get up early and witness the magic of a Fraser Island sunrise and don't miss a Sunset from Kingfisher Jetty or the western beach ๐ŸŒ…

They are extraordinary ๐Ÿ˜

It's really not that hard, for your first time just avoid driving 2 hours either side of High tide, get your tyre pressures right and enjoy getting away. ๐Ÿ˜€

Have a great time.

What would you add for first timers coming to Fraserโ“๏ธ

We hope everyone had a great day and especially all the Dads enjoyed their special day. ๐Ÿ˜€

We ducked up to Cathedrals for lunch and stopped at the Maheno, Fraser Island on the way back for some fishing. ๐ŸŽฃ

I found a school of Tailor going past and followed it up the beach with my trusty Halco Twisty and caught a few.

Then I tried the other side of the Maheno and found another school so I followed it up the beach too. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We got a couple late in the day on Pilchards also.

All up a lot of fun and a really enjoyable day.

The Tailor are running, lots of excellent reports.

Happy Fathers Day

Yesterday around 4pm Adele and I went to the beach out front of us here at Happy Valley on Fraser Island to watch. ๐Ÿ–

I sent the drone for a look and WOW ๐Ÿ˜

It was so spectacular and the Marinelife was insane.

Watch the full video and hope you enjoy it, so much to see ๐Ÿ˜Š

Matt was first to Hook up on a Spanish Mackerel yesterday here on Fraser Island ๐Ÿ–

It was such a stunning day as it has been today. ๐ŸŒž

Also it was Matt's first chance at testing out his new Shimano Saragosa 18,000 reel he recently bought from Drew at Gardiner's Tackle World Rainbow Beach ๐ŸŽฃ

Having sent out the live Tailor on his Aeroo Drone the Spanish didn't take too long and it was on.

Matt played it so well and landed it after a bit of a fight. ๐Ÿ‘

The Spanish Mac measured 1.335m and weighed 15.65kg.

Great job Matt, his first Spanish Mackerel. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Twice on the beach here yesterday on Fraser Island the Super Hornets flew past. ๐Ÿ˜Š

The first pair were much faster, and noisier lol.

We see them throughout the year, I believe flying from Townsville to Amberley.

At this time of year we see, or at least hear, them most often as they prepare for Brisbane Riverfire.

Sometimes they even give us a wave, not this time though ๐Ÿ˜€

The first catch yesterday was a big Bronze Whaler shark. ๐Ÿฆˆ

Matt and I caught up with Absolute No Limit Fishing as the sun began to shine yesterday morning. ๐ŸŒ…

It was the start of what was to be an absolutely epic day on Fraser Island ๐Ÿ–

The guys already had 4 Tailor by the time we met them on the beach. ๐ŸŽฃ

Matt and I caught 6 more later so we had plenty of live bait for the day.

The Bronzie took awhile to get in but once it was, it was released quickly after a couple of photos, Matt got it back in and it swam away.

This was just the start, the day was still young.

We have an insane amount of footage to get through from today on Fraser Island.

It was one of those absolutely glorious mint days, all day. ๐ŸŒž

The fishing went off. ๐ŸŽฃ

All up 3 Spanish Mackerel and 2 Sharks.

Plus 10 Tailor that were used for bait.

Plenty of them about, saw 2 big schools on the Drone.

As I get through all the footage I'll upload some more, here's just a couple of photos for now ๐Ÿ˜€

Early start and straight into it on Fraser Island ๐Ÿ–

Hanging out with Absolute No Limit Fishing

5 Tailor so far, one too big for the Drone so it's a keeper.

The rest will all go out as bait.

Have seen a couple of Humpback Whales this morning. ๐Ÿ‹

Conditions today are almost too good, it's a glassout. ๐Ÿ˜Š
