Last Saturday we held our second and final Cosmic Adventure Night for the 2026 Winter season. What a way to kick off National Science Week! We were very lucky to have a brief window of clear skies, giving us the perfect opportunity to explore the night sky before cloud cover rolled in.

It was another fantastic evening discovering the wonders of the night sky, with some pretty amazing imagery of the Milky Way, Cats Paw Nebula, galaxies and star clusters. The Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society delivered educational presentations and provided guests with incredible views through their telescopes and astronomy equipment.

A huge thank you to our partners at EcoGipps and the Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society for helping us facilitate another successful evening.

We would also like to give a special thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Caroline and Wendy, for assisting on the evening and cooking up a delicious meal for everyone involved.

We are really pleased to be able to offer these unique experiences to our local community and visitors to the region. It has been a fantastic Winter season and we're looking forward to offering more stargazing opportunities in future.

What kind of stargazing experiences would you like to see in the future? Comment below 💫🌌

We have an exciting event happening during the school holidays in partnership with Gippy Girls Can, Heyfield Community Resource Centre, Sue Stranger Renew and Nourish and Heyfield Wetlands Information Centre.

The Hub has signed up to be involved in the Gippy Girls Can Campaign which supports women and girls to get active during the month of September.

What is forest bathing? Forest bathing is a therapeutic practice of mindfully immersing into the natural environment using all five senses to promote physical and mental wellbeing. Research indicates that forest bathing can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, boost immunity, improve mood and sleep.

Join us for a gentle walk through the wetland and indulge in some morning tea and a cuppa afterwards.

It's that time of year again! 🌄

The Women's Adventure Film Tour 2026 is back to celebrate extraordinary women and their thrilling adventures in the outdoors.

Being adventurous doesn't always mean being the fastest, the strongest, going the highest or doing the most extreme activities. Adventure for most of us is stepping outside our comfort zone and climbing our own Everest or Kilimanjaro.

This year's special guest Robyn Kercher, a passionate adventurer and President of the Ben Cruachan Walking Club (BCWC), will be sharing her stories and tips on the great outdoor opportunities we have in our local area to stay fit and active all year round.

Don't miss out on this event! Tickets are $10 per person, with a light supper provided. Tickets are available via Trybooking - https://www.trybooking.com/DOOXL

All proceeds go towards supporting the Heyfield Community Resource Centre

The Heyfield Adventure Hub is excited to be taking part in this year's Gippy Girls Can campaign this September. In partnership with Forest Therapy Practitioner Sue Stranger Renew and Nourish, the Heyfield Community Resource Centre and the Heyfield Wetlands Information Centre, we're inviting women to join us for Wellness at the Wetlands: Forest Bathing Walk.

Slow down, breathe deeply and immerse yourself in the calming presence and rhythm of nature. Through guided mindful presence practices, you'll be gently invited to awaken your senses, unwind from the busyness of everyday life and deepen your connection with the natural world as it reveals its beauty and wisdom. No experience is needed. Simply bring your curiosity, an open heart and comfortable walking shoes.

This welcoming event has been created for local women to enjoy gentle physical exercise while connecting with others in one of Heyfield's most beautiful natural spaces. Following the walk, participants are invited to stay and enjoy a relaxed morning tea together. Children are also welcome to attend, making it a wonderful opportunity to experience a nature walk as a family.

Last Friday, we held our very first Cosmic Adventure Night at EcoGipps in Maffra West Upper, and we couldn't have asked for better viewing conditions. We had clear skies, no rain and barely a breath of wind. What a night to enjoy a magical evening under Gippsland's dark skies!

The Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society took us on a journey through the wonders and stories of the cosmos with fascinating presentations, insightful discussions and incredible views through their telescopes and astronomical equipment.

We also enjoyed a hearty meal catered by one of our wonderful volunteers, Beth Ripper, who did an amazing job of keeping everyone warm and well fed throughout the evening.

Guests also had the opportunity to learn more about the incredible work being undertaken at EcoGipps, where founders Jim and Heather Phillipson, alongside Stewardship Coordinator Caroline Trevorrow, are strengthening biolinks to and between surrounding properties.

A huge thank you to our wonderful partners, EcoGipps and to Chris Morley, John Gwyther, Paul Odgers and Mark Jarred from the Latrobe Valley Astronomical Society, for helping us deliver such a fantastic event. We are grateful for your support and collaboration!

We're really looking forward to offering another Cosmic Adventure Night soon 🌌
