The Snowy Sheathbill is a bird you commonly see around Antarctica. Known for their diet of Penguin p**p, they take on the rather less flattering moniker, Snowy S**tbill. But I learned from some of our bird experts and monitors aboard the Ocean Endeavour that their own p**p, containing matter from possibly many different penguin colonies, is prized in helping track the devastating Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza.
These two beautiful birds were sat atop Damoy Hut on a very snowy day and I loved how they faded into the surrounding white out.
Come and enjoy moments like this and many more on our Cetacean adventure, South of the 60, in Antarctica, March 2025. With some fantastic early bird pricing from , and a great itinerary with me as your guide aboard, this will be a trip not to be missed.
