I took this photo on the recent photography tour. Unfortunately, it was the middle of the day and the light was terrible. My only option was to take the best photo I could, and try to bring it to life with a bit of editing. On Tuesday I was at it again, this time teaching at Banksia Beach on Bribie Island. I've been there many times and know that sometimes it can be a gold-mine for photography, and other times you don't see much at all. This time around was one of the good days - I was so happy for my students that they were treated to some great photo opportunities...included an unexpected dolphin visit.

While I was in Africa the waiting list for my one-on-one teaching piled up...so since arriving home I have spent a lot of days out with students around the coast. So I'm taking a break from my Africa posts to share a few photos taken recently. These first two were taken last weekend at Caloundra. Whenever I'm with a student the important thing is to help them with their skills, but I always try to sneak in a few shots of my own.

Our July tour started with a few days in and around Capetown. Our very first event: a trip to the top of Table Mountain. We were planning to go up the next day, but the weather was perfect, and there was a good chance the mountain would be covered in cloud by day 2. So we shook off the jet-lag and stopped at the hotel just to drop our bags, and then went straight to the cable car. This was my third visit to Table Mountain and I have never seen it is clear as this. With Guiding the Wild

When we visited Victoria Falls in February, the Zambezi was at almost flood levels and the mist in the chasm made it almost impossible to get a clear view of the falls. For this recent visit in July, the waterfall was still spectacular but conditions were better for photography. With Guiding the Wild

After a marathon flight I got home early on Monday morning from the latest tour to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. As usual...thousands of photos to work through and it's going to take a while! Here's a little sample of things to come.
