Someone recently asked me what we mean by 'behind the scenes'.
Apparently we don't explain it very well before booking... Yet, it's consistently one of the top highlights of the day.

I smiled, thinking to myself something like "it's a true experiential approach to understanding Margaret River wine". Which, by the way, it is!!!

Thank God I didn't say that out loud! Anyone who's been with us knows we're strictly against wine snobbery...
So I kept it simple: let me show you. And rolled out an invitation to join our mega popular Hidden Gems Tour.

The result: I still have no clue how to put that experience into words 😂 .
Not because we don’t know what we’re doing — far from it. We're a team with heaps of experience working in both the wine and tourism industries, in Australia and literally around the world. That part is easy, but that's not the point.

I’ve tried writing it better.
I've tried simplifying it.
I let AI have a go. Too many times...

But I hate losing my voice. And still, it doesn't translate what actually happens into words. It fails, over and over.

So my point is, some parts of an experience aren’t meant to be explained.

They’re meant to be lived.

And if we've done our job right, that’s exactly what you’ll take with you.

This is what we mean by a highly personalised wine tour in Margaret River.

Nav and Manori came from Sydney for a very special wedding — one that brought together two families deeply connected to Margaret River’s winemaking story, past, present and future.

Nav’s brief was clear: visit Pierro and Cullen Wines, and build something meaningful around it.

Our role was clear: take an already special trip, and elevate it through a private wine tour experience designed specifically around them.

From there, the real work begins. It’s not about availability or putting together a loose itinerary.

It’s about interpretation.

Understanding what sits behind the request — not just where they want to go. Asking the right questions. Reading between the lines.

And then designing a private wine tour where every element connects — the wineries, the people, the pacing, the style of tasting, the lunch, the smaller stops along the way... everything.

So by the time the day starts, it’s not about “figuring it out”.
It’s about executing a plan that already makes sense.

And yes — the plan stays flexible. That’s where small, unexpected moments can still happen.

For Nav and Manori, this meant private tastings, access to museum and special release wines not typically served to the public, a lunch that fit exactly what they were after, a chocolate experience hosted by the owner that turned into something far more personal, and a relaxed finish at a local brewery.

No guesswork. No backtracking. No “let’s see how we go”.

That’s the difference between being taken to wineries... and experiencing a Margaret River wine tour designed around you.

Luxury with feet on the ground.

Alex & Lucy celebrating... Not sure what... Life... Life together... Does it actually matter?

And what a good decision they made to follow a local suggestion to find a gem like this!
Put together a high end grazing board, cold biodynamic bubbles, perfect sunshine... And don't forget the dolphins!
All 100% locallly produced.

Before and after, a luxury ride along local wineries.
And so much more I could keep on to describe...

Seriously, does it get any better???

Well deserved credits to our local Margaret River friends who make this so special!

- Focaccia
- Fig Paste

There's no discussion, the White Elephant Cafe is a must. Yes, Gnarabup is majestic.

But the secret? There isn't one... And if there is, it's literally a step away.

Mask on, jump out, and explore an underwater wonderland that keeps just for those who dare to look below the surface.

These are my mornings before picking you up for a tour!

You might’ve seen DBCA politely asking people not to host or attend bush doofs in recent social posts.

Let’s clear something up early: firies love a party. Probably more than most. We’ll take any excuse for a get-together, a yarn and a drink.

But we’re also not stupid enough to think this is a good idea 👇
Driving deep into forest on a single-entry dirt track, gathering 50–300 people, stringing cables through trees, twirling fire, smoking darts, burning mozzie coils, running generators, storing fuel… In the middle of peak summer.

That’s not “free-spirited”. That’s a bingo card of ignition sources.

What’s been genuinely disappointing is the level of entitlement in some of the commentary on the Parks & Wildlife and ABC Perth posts — people chest-thumping about their right to party in the bush, while completely missing the point.

Fire authorities aren’t trying to kill anyone’s vibe. They’re trying to stop a disaster.

Every year, hundreds of bushfires burn across the South West. We live in one of the most fire-prone regions on Earth. Sure, maybe no major fires have yet been caused by bush doofs — but pretending it’ll never happen is magical thinking of the highest order.

And when you’ve got hundreds of people trapped down a narrow track, surrounded by bush, it doesn’t take much imagination (or brain power… though judging by some comments, maybe it does) to see how badly that can end.

Here’s the bit that often gets forgotten:
When things go wrong, it’s volunteers who leave their families, jobs and dinner tables to respond. Local people, pagers going off at 3am, turning out because they care about this place and the people in it.

Case in point: the Forest Grove fire earlier this week.
A genuine fire emergency requiring a full AMR Shire response, DBCA and DFES resources — all hands on deck.

At the exact same time, 200+ people gathered at Redgate for a bush doof, potentially right in the line of fire if the wind shifted. DBCA resources had to be diverted away from an active fire to help disperse the crowd.

That’s not harmless fun. That’s asking volunteers and emergency services to carry the consequences of someone else’s choices.

As DBCA Senior Ranger Naz Graue put it perfectly on ABC Radio Perth:

“We’re not saying you can’t come in and enjoy the environment. We want you to. But we need you to do it in a responsible and respectful manner.”

Enjoy the bush. Love the bush. Just don’t turn it into the setting for the next avoidable emergency.

If you see suspicious activity in national parks or state forest — including on social media — contact your local Parks and Wildlife Service office or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. You can report anonymously.

1,000 reviews, that's a big number! But the real highlight? An almost unheard-of 5-star average across the thousand ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!!

These numbers mean a lot — not because they flatter us, but because they reflect consistency. Reliable delivery, not luck. An experience that quietly does what it promises, day after day.

But rather than focusing on what we have achieved, this feels like the right moment to reflect on essential values that truly make the difference:

• True support to local community - through our local partners, who welcome us on every tour. Family-run businesses, small producers, growers and makers who open their doors and share their stories — they are the heart of every day we host in Margaret River and genuinely represent our people.

• A deep commitment to quality — from us and from the local businesses we visit. It shows in the places and people we visit, in the care they put into what they do, and in the many details that shape each day, both visible and behind the scenes.

• Respect for Country, and true acknowledgement of the Wardandi people, who hold enduring knowledge, care and connection to the land we are so lucky to share.

• Strong ethics and good intentions, guiding how we operate, who we work with, and the kind of impact we want to leave behind.

• And finally, something simple but essential: we truly love what we do! We share the place we live, its people, its nature and its culture — honestly and authentically.

- Last but not least, a simple fact: we truly love what we do! We share the place where we live, its people, its nature, its culture. We're genuine and authentic

To every one of you who has taken the time to share your experience and leave a review: thank you.
If you’ve travelled with us, your words help others decide with confidence. And if you haven’t yet — we’d love to show you why these stories keep being written.

What a massive weekend for WA! And for me 😂... We had the privilege to host the first stage of the 2026 at . Arguably the most technical sailing category — and by far fastest ever!

I call it the sailing Formula 1... These guys literally fly their $5M boats on the water. Athletes bring a fantastic parade of Olympic gold medals, proof that only the very best in the world make it into such a selected group.

And Sunday's Freo Doctor blew its best, setting the scene for an exiting and high adrenaline final day.

Cheers to the , representing Australia with a spot in the Top 3 final race, and securing second in a milimetric final sprint.

Congrats to for the win! You guys showed real class all day today. Unstoppable!!

And my heart always goes with . Big thanks , double Olympic gold medalist, it was an honour to meet you in person. And thanks for the new design on the yellow helmet (*sorry, that's a bit of a coded part of my weekend's story. No photos, just memories meeting such a legend).
