How have I been married to a Dutchman for 15 years and have not encountered "Boterkoek" until now??!! The injustice! I've even lived in the Netherlands briefly and I didn't come across this delicious treat. I've been missing out. It wasn't until a few weeks ago on a recent day trip to the picturesque town of Montville, situated high up in the hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, that I discovered Boterkoek. Dutch shortbread or "Boterkoek" is similar to traditional Scottish shortbread. Boterkoek is denser and more creamier and is a delicious Dutch cookie served with coffee.

Although it's really relaxing to sit and handsew, most of us really have little time for this very peaceful hobby. So- I'm forever on the look-out for streamlined ways of doing things so we can still have time to create. Which is how I've created the "Faux" Clamshell Cushion. A more speedy way to create those finicky little clamshells. So, here it is- the Peach Blossom Moth Cushion- all sewn by machine! [ 638 more words ]
