One Design Office One Design Office (ODO) is a multidisciplinary design firm specialising in the fields of Architecture, Product Design, and Branding.

This Week’s Design Crush | Kopitiams

The places we grow up around have a way of staying with us, often becoming design references long before we recognise them as such.

For Yu Hien, it’s the kopitiams of home in Malaysia. Their architecture blurs the boundaries between inside and out, public and private, building and street, creating informal spaces where everyday life, food and community naturally overlap.

It’s a simple approach to spatial design that raises interesting ideas around how architecture can engage with the public realm and create more open, social places within our cities.

We’re excited to share our latest project in regional Victoria.

Set alongside a Victorian River, this nature resort has been designed to celebrate its remarkable setting. Carefully positioned cabins capture expansive views of the surrounding landscape, creating spaces that encourage stillness, connection, and a renewed appreciation for nature.

Because the best design doesn’t compete with its environment. It belongs to it.

Double recognition for a project we’re incredibly proud to have brought to life!

1 Hotel Melbourne has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2026 Sustainability Awards: Hospitality & Tourism and Adaptive Reuse.

From breathing new life into the historic Goods Shed No.5 to embedding sustainability throughout the architecture, interiors and guest experience, the project brings together heritage, hospitality and a more considered approach to design.

A proud moment for our team and everyone who helped bring 1 Hotel Melbourne to life. We look forward to celebrating this recognition in Sydney this November.

This Week’s Design Crush | Lambat Ni Pedro

This week, Pat shares Lambat Ni Pedro, a sculptural light by Filipino Australian designer John Gatip that we’ve recently specified for one of our projects.

Crafted from Tasmanian oak, capiz shells from the Philippines and freshwater pearls, the piece is a tribute to Gatip’s grandfather, a fisherman, drawing inspiration from the fishing nets and handmade hammocks that shaped his childhood. Through its materiality and form, it brings together Filipino heritage and Australian craftsmanship.

What Pat loves most is how the piece celebrates the designer’s heritage while reflecting the experience of building a life between two cultures, something she deeply relates to herself.

It’s a reminder that the most enduring design doesn’t just respond to function. It carries history, identity and personal stories into the present.

Shortlisted in Hospitality, celebrating spaces that create memorable experiences while working beautifully for the people who use them.

Also shortlisted in Sustainability, among a diverse group of projects demonstrating thoughtful and considered approaches to sustainable design.

Seafarers Penthouses
Shortlisted in Residential Multi, recognising design that thoughtfully responds to the realities of shared living while pursuing architectural and aesthetic excellence.
