Bit of an exciting find today.
This lovely lady is not a myrmecia pilosula, but a myrmecia croslandi.

I didn't realise at the time however it has since been confirmed by more learned people than I.

So this happened tonight...

Found this beautiful myrmecia forceps queen, which confirmed our suspicion of this particular area.

Very much sporting a m.nigriceps morph, which is not surprising as m.nigriceps and m.species 17 are the two dominant species here.

Sneak Peek!

We often receive requests to develop new products, and here’s the latest one we’re working on:
The DillAnt Founding Den! (Name still a work in progress.)

This design is inspired by existing products on the market but refined to align with our modular system.

Some of the features are:

Effortless Colony Transitions:
When it's time to move your colony, simply connect one of our nests or outworlds and let them migrate at their own pace. This minimizes stress by eliminating the need to forcefully relocate them.

Seamless Compatibility:
The feeding area/outworld features four external connector points, perfectly aligned with all the nests and outworlds in our range.

Customizable Tube Sizes:
The three internal tube connectors are interchangeable, supporting 16mm, 18mm, or 20mm tubes. When the product hits the website, you'll be able to select your preferred tube/connector size. Plus, we’re adding 20mm test tubes to our stock very soon!

Blackout Shroud for Minimal Disruption:
The shroud comes in two parts—a removable lid and a removable base. The base can be removed without disturbing the tubes, which remain securely in place. Together, the lid and base create a complete blackout, ensuring your colony stays undisturbed even during movement.

Flexible Test Tube Configuration:
Only need two test tubes? Swap out a connector with a blank one, and you’re good to go!

Secure Design:
Test tubes are securely housed, preventing substrate from spilling where it shouldn’t and ensuring small live prey stays contained in the feeding area.

The feeding area/outworld will also be available in our standard colours. And comes with a removable acrylic lid/cover.

It has been a massive year for DillAnt and we are looking forward to a break.
We thank every one of our customers, many who have become friends, for your support in 2024.
The feedback and encouragement has been amazing.
The ideas for new products, or slight tweaks on existing products has been incredible.

So, thank you all!!

We look forward to a bigger 2025, some new products in the pipeline and some projects we can't talk about just yet... watch this space!!

The new DMS small founding nest.

Perfect for that small to medium species to start their colony. No need for test tubes and then to move them later when they outgrow the tube.
Simply start off in the Founding nest, then when they need to expand, just connect a new nest from the DMS range. For semi claustral queens, a medium outworld is in development to connect to the side of this small

Both models come with all the connectors you will possibly need.

The brood boost version comes with a removable portal that gives access to both nest chambers for boosting brood from an established colony of the same species or for waste removal.

New Product Alert!!!

Introducing the DillAnt Modular Series Founding Nest and Outworld.

Designed, manufactured, and tested by us, the DillAnt Team.

These will be up on the website soon, but until then, DM or email us if you want to be some of the first ant keepers to use our founding nests and outworlds.

The Founding nest is an addition to our medium nest range with dimensions of 75x100mm and 27mm tall. It comes with a partitioned nest area with one chamber directly connecting to a hydration area, separated by our mesh system that is used on all our hydration options. The acrylic cover comes with holes over the hydration area for easy access to top up the water.

The brood boost variant comes with two locking brood boost portals that allow access to the nest chambers.

The outworld is based on the large nest. The base dimensions are 100x150mm and 27mm tall, and the outworld is 100mm tall on top of the base with the lid and handle being an additional 13mm. All up, the total height of the outworld is approximately 140mm. The outworld features multiple ventilation slots and a lockable lid and naturally can be connected to any of our DMS nests.

Recommended for medium and large species of ants, testing continues with small species.
