Stunning!
After thinking about this shot for a few years, I decided to finally go out and test the possibilities of doing the somewhat impossible astro in the heart of the Sydney CBD. With the Bortle Scale of βclass 8 (city sky)β, the possibility of shooting Milky Way here is next to non. There were a few other photographers trying similar thing that night, glad to briefly meet you all.
The city light and the light on the bridge were really bright. I had to utilised multiple Grad filter from Kase to balance the light. Without these, I would have had to blend them in post or use a black card. It did take about 15-20 shots of sliding up them up and down to get the overlaps right.
Filter sequence includes
1. Screw-in Light pollution filter
2. GND put up side down (only needed when Milky Way is on East, North East)
3. RGND (when facing East, South East)
4. Centered Grads on the city skyline (when facing East, South East) π·: Canon EOS R
