We’ll be honest: photos were a little thin this month! With more rain than usual, a few tours had us focused on keeping everyone warm and dry rather than wrangling group shots.

We also packed our bags for Australian Toursim Exchange in Adelaide, a week-long international tourism event where we got to deepen relationships with travel trade partners from around the world.

And the big one: we won Best Tourism Experience 2026 at the Newcastle Tourism Industry Awards! We’re still pinching ourselves.

We are honoured to share that Newy Tour Co has been named Best Tourism Experience at the 2026 Newcastle Tourism Industry Group Awards!

This recognition belongs to the region as much as it does to us. Newcastle and the Hunter are home to some of the most generous storytellers, growers, makers, and hosts in the country, and every one of our tours is shaped by the people and places we are lucky enough to share with our guests.

A heartfelt thank you to for sponsoring the category, and to the NTIG board and judging panel for the care taken in assessing every submission. To stand alongside the calibre of operators in this year’s field is an honour in itself.

A proud moment for Newy Tour Co and a reflection of the work we’ve put into building something special for Newcastle and the Hunter Region.
Since launching, our focus has been on creating boutique, story-led experiences that showcase the best of our region to visitors from around the world. To be recognised alongside other operators doing incredible work in Newcastle is something we’re really proud of.

April on tour. It’s been another fantastic month of sharing the Newcastle & Hunter region with visitors from around Australia & the World. For us, the cruise ship visits into Newcastle have finished for another season (we look forward to welcoming them back in October), we bought another van that will make its way into touring very soon & we are working hard in the background on a few projects.

Last week marked the end of the cruise season in Newcastle, and our first season delivering tours in partnership with ground handlers.

It has been a rewarding experience working behind the scenes to deliver seamless, high-quality experiences for cruise guests visiting our region. We’ve genuinely enjoyed being part of each ship call and showcasing Newcastle and the Hunter Valley through a more curated, locally-led lens.

We’re already looking ahead to the next season, with ships returning to Newcastle Harbour in October.

In the meantime, I’ve been refining our Hunter Valley cruise offering and developing a new Newcastle experience to complement our existing tours, ensuring we continue to evolve and deliver something truly distinctive for future guests.

Looking forward to what’s ahead for cruise in our region.
