Farewell this evening to the 2 sisters I have heading off for 3 weeks of touring fun in Italy, including Rome, Cinque Terre, Florence, Milan, Lake Como, Verona & Venice before visiting family in Germany. These ladies wanted a mix of free days and guided tours so we have booked a number or half day and full day excursions for them (including a pasta and tiramisu cooking class - yum!), all their trains and then leaving at least one day free in each city so they can explore on their own and find their own "hidden gems" :-)

Time is running out to get your travel inquires in before the Travel with Lani office closes for a 5 week UK & Eastern European break with the family!

I will be out of the office from Monday 8th September until Monday 13th October, so if you want to arrange any travels before I leave, please get in touch ASAP.

As always, even while I'm away you're not on your own. The MTA head office assistance team will be on hand during business hours to help with new bookings and emergencies for those travelling and this time because I have so many of you off exploring at the same time as me, my lovely colleague Tamsin will also be assisting with any after hours emergencies (but all travellers hotels have been reconfirmed and fingers crossed we have no airline or rail strikes so it will all be smooth sailing!!).

I'm looking forward to sharing our family road trip through the UK with you all so stay tuned!

Not sure I'd ever go so far as to dress up in period costume but I certainly am looking forward to visiting Glencoe, Duone Castle and a few other famous settings as seen in Outlander when the Travel With Lani family heads to the UK next month - who would have thought one TV series could invigorate regional Scottish tourism to such an extent?!

Farewell this evening to the couple I have taking advantage of the direct Jetstar flights to Rarotonga and heading off for a week of much warmer weather, lovely beaches, crystal clear waters (including a snorkelling trip) and possibly a cocktail or two - have a fabulous time!

After many delays a new entry system is (finally) coming for the EU - travellers arriving after October 12 should be aware of changes on arrival including possible fingerprinting, with full implementation of the new system being rolled out across all 29 Schengen countries over the next 6 months.

The new European Entry/Exit System (EES) starts on 12 October for all non-EU nationals, including Australians, travelling in or out of the Schengen area. There may be longer border queues. When travelling into and out of the Schengen area, for short stays, you may need to have your fingerprints and photo taken. Read and subscribe: Smartraveller.gov.au/Schengen
