Better Read Tours offers a range of boutique writing workshops and literary tours.

There is something truly magical about retracing the steps of some of the world’s most brilliant authors. Spoil yourself with a full immersion into a specific literary and historical period, whether it be an exploration of the French Siècle des Lumières (the Age of Enlightenment) of the 19th century, Dante’s Italy, Tolstoy’s Russia or the American Southern Gothic. This unique chance to glimpse the

genesis of some of the classics of our literary Canon and gain fresh perspectives into their world, is an opportunity that comes along too rarely. Better Read Tours affords its members the chance to pay homage to these writers and their works in a unique and intimate environment.

Join us for a unique tour that is carefully curated to include informative and insightful guided tours, unforgettable sightseeing, with local guides bringing their insider knowledge that money can't buy. Enjoy book clubs and memorable dining experiences, savouring fine cuisine in hand-picked restaurants, as part of an itinerary that is infused with local knowledge, and a perfect balance of activity and downtime.

Our first fully escorted tour is to Paris, in April of 2018, offering an immersion into Paris's rich history and literary landscape. Your home will be in unique, individually styled accommodation where you can relax and immerse yourself in Paris in a small group escorted tour guided by the expert services of your English/French Tour Director Fabienne.

Started by Meytal Radzinski in 2014, has become a staple of the online literary community and independent bookstores like Better Read Than Dead globally, encouraging readers to review and discuss works by women in translation.

Hidden in a quiet churchyard near Crieff, the Fortingall Yew stands as a living relic of deep time — thought to be up to 5,000 years old, and as some say, 'the oldest living thing' in Europe.

The yew, associated with death and rebirth, has long been a symbol of the thin veil between worlds. Even today standing beneath its branches, you can feel something deeper — a sense of time folding, and the land remembering.

The Caucasian republic of Georgia has a long and illustrious literary history that surprises many who are unfamiliar with the region. During Georgia's golden age in the twelfth century, the kingdom was ruled by the powerful Queen Tamar (pictured here): Georgia's most famous monarch who inspired the great national epic "The Night in the Panther's Skin", by S***a Rustaveli.

ARMCHAIR TRAVEL: ARGENTINE DELTA 🇦🇷
Out in the quiet, eerie expanse of the Paraná Delta, time feels thick as the humid air speaks in silence to the river. In Selva Almada’s NOT A RIVER, this watery world becomes both refuge and reckoning for three men on a fishing trip haunted by memory, violence, and something just beneath the surface. With spare, poetic prose, Almada conjures an Argentina far from the cities—a place where nature dominates, ghosts linger, and masculinity unravels in the face of grief and guilt.

This deceptively simple short novel contains a deep sense of foreboding, turning a seemingly bucolic trip into a haunted story.

We’re a truly jet-setting team right now! Robert just returned from a rollicking trip to New York, with a visit to the The Morgan Library & Museum a clear standout. Here he found, among other treasures: a letter from Jane Austen to her sister, Charles Dickens’ writing desk, first editions from James Baldwin (along with hand-written notes from his manuscripts). Followed by a perfect dry martini with a twist to round out the day - Robert’s cocktail of choice 🍸👌
