After months of cleaning out my dad’s house, one thing is crystal clear – I do not need more stuff!

All those cupboards, boxes and “might be useful one day” bits and pieces have reminded me that what really sticks are the moments, not the things.​

So this year I’m all about gifting experiences – long lunches, weekends away, cheeky city breaks and poolside cocktails instead of gadgets and dust collectors.​

Some journeys are about ticking off landmarks, but this new experience is about listening & learning!

Outback Odyssey: Coober Pedy & The Mail Run Adventure is now live: a small-group, story-rich escape into one of South Australia’s most otherworldly landscapes, where the horizon feels lunar, and the blue sky goes on forever. From underground-style accommodation in Coober Pedy to sunset drinks at Kanku–Breakaways Conservation Park, it’s a chance to feel the outback rather than look at it.​

The heart of this tour is the Outback Mail Run – travelling alongside “The Outback Mail Man” as mail is delivered 650 km through remote desert country to William Creek, Oodnadatta and outback stations. Along the way, you’ll hear real stories of life on the land, share morning tea and lunch in the middle of nowhere, and meet the people who call this vast, harsh, beautiful place home.​

You’ll also:
Stay two nights in Coober Pedy, the legendary opal mining town that lives mostly underground.​

Join a hosted Breakaways sunset experience with drinks and antipasto as the colours of the “moon-like” hills change by the minute.

Visit Umoona Opal Mine & Museum and the Serbian Underground Church, with time to explore local galleries and opal shops.​

For 2026, departures run from May to September, from $1,500 per person twin share (3 days/2 nights), with an optional scenic flight over Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre for those who want to see the desert from above.​

🌊 Ship Inspection Day: Oceania Riviera at Outer Harbour 🚢

Today I had the pleasure of stepping onboard the Oceania Cruises - Riveria for a ship inspection — and what an absolute treat it was.

What I love most about Oceania’s ships is their small luxury style, catering to no more than 1,250 guests with around 800 staff onboard — meaning there’s always friendly, attentive service wherever you turn. These smaller ships can also reach unique ports that larger vessels can’t, allowing for more distinctive and immersive itineraries.

I had the pleasure of dining in one of over 10 exquisite restaurants, and it truly lived up to the reputation – a world-class culinary experience!
