The italian island life style a bit hard to take - certainly so much better here that Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi, Positano….just as beautiful but no mass tourism ! Yeah ps no pre booking dinners or queues for anything just easy gotta love ❤️ that and the birra ! Sandy Colombo

What is so special about Ischia Italy?

Ischia is special because it combines volcanic hot springs, beautiful beaches, lush scenery, Italian food and a relaxed atmosphere and it feels much more authentic and laid-back than nearby Capri.

Number one best thing for me - It simply is not yet full of tourists ie mass tourism which sadly Italy has in many areas


Natural thermal waters:Ischia is a volcanic island, famous for its hot springs and thermal spas. You can even find naturally heated seawater in places such as Sorgeto.

Aragonese Castle:A dramatic medieval castle perched on a volcanic islet, connected to the main island by a bridge. The views are spectacular.

Beaches:From long sandy beaches like Maronti to tiny coves and thermal bathing spots, there's a lot of variety.

Very green:Unlike the image many people have of Mediterranean islands, Ischia is quite lush, with vineyards, forests, gardens and mountain scenery.

Excellent food and wine:Local Ischian cuisine includes seafood, rabbit, vegetables, pasta and wines produced on the island.

Less touristy than Capri:This is a major part of its charm. Capri is glamorous and fashionable; Ischia is more relaxed, local and wellness-oriented.

Ischia is where you go when you want the beauty of an Italian Mediterranean island without everything feeling quite as polished, crowded and expensive as Capri, Sorrento, Amalfi or Positano

If you feel you still want to tick ✅ those places off your bucket list - you can certainly jump on a ferry and explore them as a day trip.

I promise you that on your return back to Ischia you will think

“Gosh I am glad I am staying in Ischia - room to breathe !”

Thinking of Puglia ?

We are currently here……And there is something about Molfetta that I really love.

It doesn’t feel as though it has been created just for tourists. It feels like a real Italian seaside town fishing boats bobbing in the harbour, locals chatting in the piazzas, little cafés, narrow streets, beautiful old buildings and, of course, the sparkling Adriatic Sea.

Molfetta sits just north of Bari and, for me, it’s one of those places where you can slow down and actually enjoy being in Italy rather than rushing around trying to see everything.

In fact we just can’t beleive how easy it is to get around - few tourists, warm weather and easy access to other Puglia towns by train

And if you visit like us in early September, you get to experience something really special.

The Madonna dei Martiri Festival

Every year, around 7–9 September, Molfetta celebrates its patron saint, the Madonna dei Martiri, with several days of celebrations.

The main feast day is 8 September, and this is when the town really comes alive.

One of the most beautiful traditions is the Sagra a Mare - the festival at sea

The statue of the Madonna is carried in procession and taken out onto the Adriatic, accompanied by boats from the local fishing community.

Standing around the harbour watching the boats gather, with music playing, people everywhere and the whole town celebrating, is quite something.

What I loved the most was how pretty the town looked covered in lights and everyone walking around happy with a festive feel

If you are here for the festival or even any other time this is not a town that makes you work hard - no problem about having to book a resturant, having to find a place on the beach to swim or getting sick of all the tourists …..this place has not yet been found by the mass tourism crowds you see in many other parts of Italy 🇮🇹 ….yet !
