HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 28, final day
We say goodbye to San Diego and learnt that they too name their fog but use the month of the year; we experienced 'Fogust'. It was a drive along the State Highway as we head back to LA to return the bikes. At the hotel, everyone shared a few beverages and toasted to a great tour.

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 26
Today was almost as hot as Death Valley, actually Yuha is the second hottest place after Death Valley.
Today we rode to Yuma and after visiting H-D (where Jo finally scored herself some new boots) we visited Yuma Territorial Prison, made famous from the movies 3:10 to Yuma. We then travelled along the road closest to the Mexican border. We lunched at a fantastic little Mexican restaurant and then made our way to San Deigo where we all have a day to explore.

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 25
We decided to breakfast at Goldies Diner in Williams on Route 66. We passed through Seligman for the largest Rte 66 sign and the odd souvenir. We hit H-D Mother Road because who doesn't need another singlet/t-shirt; and rode the Arizona Sidewinder in the afternoon, a quirky Rte 66 ghost town in the Black Mountains. Now, did you know London Bridge was rebuilt and the original now resides in Lake Havasu, Arizona? Of course we rode over it and may have visited London Bridge H-D.

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 24
Big day today, huge!!
We started early and drove past Mexican Hat on our way to Forest Gump Point where photos are a must! A Gouldings Tour of Monument Valley is a great way to learn about the Valleys rock formations.
After a quick lunch we arrived at Grand Canyon (South). Just phenomenal and what a way to finish the day.

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 23
We rode through the beautiful Hogs Canyon and of course, we stopped for a quick photo. Next it was the Hite Overlook, another area created by the Colorado River; followed by Mule Canyon Ruins. At the end of the day we rested our heads in Bluff on the Trail of the Ancients Scenic Byway.

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 22
Our first stop today was coffee. Now anyone who has been to US knows good coffee is hard to find, but Black Rifle Coffee did the trick. Our lovely drive through Indian Canyon was very slow due to roadworks, unavoidable during summer. We checked out Goblin Valley State Park after lunch (loved the hoodoos) and finally rested our heads in Hanksville.

HDMT 2016 Pier to Peaks - Day 21/16
Last day on the bikes for our Salt Lake riders; we left Green River and made our way back to Salt Lake City. After a quick stop at Walmart, (everyone always needs something), the bikes were dropped off and we headed to our hotel. Unfortunately it was time to say goodbye to our 16 day tour riders, so we all headed out to dinner to celebrate fun times.

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 20/15
We started our day in Colorado, before riding into Utah where we encountered a little rain. Fortunate for us, we missed the hail but it was fun to ride through the aftermath. Sheep Creek Overlook, Utah is always stunning but like everywhere, the water level is low due to less snow falls last winter. We finished the day in Wyoming AND the Green River Intergalactic Space Port sign was in place (aka hadn't been stolen); Longers was very happy!!

HDMT 2026 Pier to Peaks - Day 19/14
Rocky Mountain National Park facts:
- 14,440 ft
- highest continuous paved road
- crosses the Continential Divide
- 415 square miles of glacier carved alpine forest.
Its such a beautiful, albeit it a little chilly, ride with more beauty around every corner. We were lucky to see a moose, a herd of elk, chipmunks and squirrels. A little rain didn't dampen our spirits as we headed into Steamboat Springs for the night.
