Our first Running Off-Piste Dead Cow Gully BYU runner . His second crack at the distance, smashing out 33 hours of running and finishing (or DNFing in backyard ultra land) in the final 13 runners from a field of 248. That’s 221km of running day and night. Unreal stuff! Rest up now mate, you’ve got some fast road races coming up!

Over 30hrs in to the Dead Cow Gully backyard. Daz is in the final 21 runners and heading north over 200km - up it bro!

Track Tuesday session drop:

The bread 🍞 and butter 🧈 of any good distance running plan - 1km repeats. The longer the distance you’re training for the more repeats you do. Keep the effort sharp and enjoy the 90s rest, there will be 6-10 reps on offer! Choose your adventure.

5:30pm Tuesday for a 2km warm up drills. With the GC mara festival fast approaching and Sunny coast soon after, your track sessions need to be just as important as your long run!! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Noosa 10k in 36:03.

Really Happy with the result and run considering the last month of little training and less sleep 👶🍼

First official outing in the fast R3’s they felt unreal, race pace felt like you’re actually floating.

From here we look to find some routine in training (more early mornings) to bring on some longer road racing fitness and have a decent crack at both the Hervey Bay HM and GC full marathon. Time to “lock in” as the kids say!

Shout out to Running Off-Piste runner Greg for some epic shots of the day and for capturing the final km in the hurt locker! Lesssgo!

Track Tuesday Session Drop:

With many Running Off-Piste crew taking to the start line of the Noosa Marathon weekend, this session is designed to tune up ready for Saturday.

From a program and coaching perspective, with a race on Saturday, Tuesday should be your last hard run of the prep. I say ‘hard’ but this should be a measured effort, firing the legs and the Threshold Heart Rate zones, without taxing the body too much. We don’t want to build fatigue during a taper period.

What we’ve got: 800m followed by 400m with a 60 second static recovery between efforts. Depending on your load, aim to hit this 4-6 times.

Same as always - 5:30pm at the UniSC track for a warm up and drills! Cya there 🏆

Track Tuesday session drop!

“Chase the Pace”

I’m pumped to roll this out!!

How is works: Using your 5k PB we lock in a pace for the session. For example if your 5k PB is 20 minutes, your pace for the session is 4min Ks / 1:36 per lap of the track.

What happens next is, you need to run 6k in the session… at only your 5k pace. You run laps of the track until you can’t hold pace, you then have a break (1 lap equivalent in time) and then get back out to get some more distance chalked up.

You might start running 4 laps in one go (1600m - all at 1:36 per lap). If you decide to have a break, you get a 1:36 break, before joining back in for some more laps. All laps go towards your 6k goal total, how you get there is up to you.

My advice is bank as many laps early while you’re fresh, maybe start with a 2k chunk and then drop to 1200s and 800s and finally if required use the 400m lap to get the session finished. Any rest you take is the time taken to lap one loop of the track.

*if you don’t have a suitable 5k PB time as a pace guide, ill help you decide a pace that’ll challenge you appropriately*

Cya Tuesday gang! Get keen

Track Tuesday is starting to grow legs 🦵

The road running season is close, lots of these guys have coming up, running fast on the track is the only way to smash that PB. 🔥

Track Tuesday session drop:

YASSO’s 800s. Named after Bart Yasso 🏆

6-10 reps of 800m (depending on where your training is at) followed a 400m float recovery (slow jog). This is a continuous running session, to help build speed and endurance all in one.

Pacing becomes super important in this session, and those working towards a marathon should be hitting 8-10 reps. (When 10 reps are done this session can predict a marathon finish time 🤓)

As always there is an option B: 60s static recovery between reps, for a more classic speed session.

Tuesday 5:30pm at the UniSC track. Looking forward to seeing everyone 🏃🏃🏼‍♀️🔥
