Just over 5 years ago now, the concept of EcoWalks Tours went from launching our website to conducting our first guided walking tour in the Summer of 2019.

Stifled by restrictions and park closures during 2020 and 2021, EcoWalks Tours shifted its focus towards school groups and vacation care centres by providing nature-based education in partnership with .

Alongside our educational tours, EcoWalks Tours partnered with to host their Wildlife Explorer Tour. This tour has always provided uniquely curated experiences for guests staying at Q Station.

Our tours of Bradleys Head and Middle Head gained significant attention from tourism industry experts and online travel agents. So much so, that when tourism returned to Sydney, we had a steady uptake with bookings and became ecotourism certified with .

With our capacity to host excursions and guided tours was now developed, we then expanded into other areas such as conducting duke of ed camps for school groups and veteran wellbeing activities and camps.

As the founder of EcoWalks Tours, I am so grateful for the unwavering support from all of our business partners, followers and supporters but one of the most memorable tours I have ever hosted was this one picture here on our Middle Head Tour.

Hosting this tour alongside two incredible staff members, Haley and Rory of EcoWalks Tours, was our first ever group tour.

It is an absolute joy of mine to continually meet other veterans and connect with them on a walk in nature.

This year, EcoWalks Tours will be narrowing our focus on working with more veterans by providing a range of wellbeing activities for them and their families.

A huge thank you to you all and I look forward to seeing you again on one of our walking tours, excursions or camps.

we we’re so lucky that we spotted this little guy during today’s tour between rain showers.

The Neon Cuckoo Bee (Thyreus nitidulus) is just stunning, with its metallic blue sheen and slick, black wings. And its scientific name, which means ‘a little shiny’ in Latin, is adorable too.

Just one of the many native bees spotted on the trails of North Head in Manly.

Do you know what this bee might be doing? If so, let us know in the comments below.

Kicking off we hosted the unforgettable ‘Veterans and Families (re)Connection Camp over the weekend!

In partnership with we guided veteran families on an overnight hiking adventure!

Here are some of the highlights of the two days!

📸 1: The start of the 7km hike on the starting at Berowra Waters. Just look at those smiles!

📸 2: Descending into Sam’s Creek along the crisscrossing staircase.

📸 3: Short halt for morning tea at Barnetts Lookout

📸 4: A quick clip of our camp set up in

📸 5: Mike from drop in for some quick first aid skill development with our younger participants.

📸 6: Veteran family having a blast treating snake and spider bites before afternoon tea time.

📸 7: Camp fire time toasting marshmallows, munching on s’mores and connecting over a good laugh at each other 🤣

📸 8: Breakfast of champions! Double egg and bacon roll with a supersize scoop of bbq fired beans! Perfect start to the day.

📸 9: Leaving for the short 5km hike up to Mount Kuring-gai.

📸10: Finishing up one of our best camps ever with these wonderful people! Again, look at those smiling faces!

Here’s what one of our veteran dads had to say about our (re)Connection Camp.

“The tour successfully achieved its objectives. Veterans bonded together. Kids bonded together with their dad. It was de-stressing and relaxing experience. I am grateful to RSL Lifecare and DVA for supporting such an activity.”

It was an absolute pleasure meeting our veterans and their children. Together we connected, created memories and learned new skills. And yes, we’re already starting to plan our next Veteran and Families (re)Connection Camp. So, watch this space!
