There is another Amalfi Coast above the sea.
High above the movement of the coastline, Ravello exists at a different rhythm — quieter, more contemplative, suspended between gardens, history and an extraordinary expanse of Mediterranean blue.
At Villa Cimbrone, pathways disappear beneath wisteria and ancient trees before arriving at the celebrated Terrace of Infinity, poised dramatically above the coast. The estate’s origins reach back to the 11th century, its gardens later transformed in the early 20th century into the remarkable landscape that remains today.
Then there is Villa Rufolo.
Built in the 13th century, its Moorish architecture and romantic gardens have witnessed centuries of history. Richard Wagner arrived here in 1880 and found inspiration for Parsifal among gardens that seemed almost imagined rather than real.
That relationship between music, landscape and emotion still defines Ravello.
Each summer, Villa Rufolo becomes the setting for the Ravello Festival, with orchestral and classical performances held against one of Italy’s most extraordinary natural backdrops. The 2026 Festival runs from 4 July to 5 September, bringing internationally renowned orchestras, conductors and musicians to the gardens and Belvedere overlooking the Mediterranean.
For SCULPTURED JOURNEYS, Ravello is never simply somewhere to visit.
Through our longstanding connections in Italy, we weave places such as these into complete private journeys along the Amalfi Coast — thoughtfully timed days, private experiences, extraordinary gardens, time on the water, remarkable tables and moments of culture that reveal a deeper sense of place.
Because the most memorable journeys are rarely about seeing more.
They are about feeling more.
