🌐 Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES)
On May 23, 2023, Australia and India embarked on a journey of collaboration through the Migration and Mobility Partnership Arrangement (MMPA). MMPA paves the way for bilateral migration and mobility while tackling issues of illegal migration.
🚀 Empowering Indian Talent
MATES, born under the MMPA, is designed to foster temporary mobility for Indian university graduates and early career professionals. It's a platform to facilitate the exchange of skills and knowledge between Australia and India.
🎓 Who's Eligible?
MATES welcomes Indian nationals who:
Are 30 years or younger at the time of application
Have not participated in MATES previously
Demonstrate proficient English language skills
Graduated within 2 years from eligible educational institutions
Hold qualifications in specified fields like renewable energy, mining, engineering, ICT, AI, FinTech, or AgriTech.
👨💼 No Employer Sponsorship Needed
Experience the freedom to apply for a visa under MATES without the need for sponsorship by an Australian employer.
👩💻 Permitted Activities
Participants can live and work in Australia for up to 2 years, broadening their skills and networks, especially in specified sectors.
🌏 Program Capacity and Family Inclusion
MATES starts as a pilot program offering 3,000 places annually for primary applicants. You can also bring your family along, with work rights, without impacting the program's cap.
⏳ Duration and Extensions
Enjoy 12 months to make your first entry into Australia and a stay of up to 24 months. Extensions are possible, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
💼 Financial Considerations
Stay tuned for details on visa subclass and associated fees. Additionally, applicants are responsible for other application-related costs, including English language testing fees.
📅 When Will MATES Commence?
An Implementation Protocol is in the works to define MATES' modalities, ensuring fairness, diversity, and equity. While there's no set timeframe yet, we're committed to launching MATES with integrity.
