Stihl SH86 blower blowing at 320km/h. This is not how we clean gutters. As you can see there can be minimal affect at cleaning the gutters with a blower. This is why we clean gutters by hand.

As a gutter cleaner, I get often asked "What is the best way to keep the downpipes clear?" Some people manufacture their own way of placing rolled up mesh (such as chicken wire) semi way down into the downpipe relying on the friction of the mesh and the downpipe to keep it in place while others place a mesh into the gutter and over the downpipe outlet. As you could imagine both solutions have their downfalls. The rolled up mesh eventually breaks down and gives way falling down into the downpipe and clogging it. The mesh in the gutter over the downpipe creates a plug effect when the dirt and leaves cover it over and you get water spilling over the gutter edge hopefully not into the dwelling and it doesn't take that much for that to happen as the photo to the left shows. The best solution is to have rainheads installed at a height which you can maintain to clean the filters. This way leaves and debris are not going down the downpipe at least underground (where the big expense is to clear a block) and water from the roof is still being diverted down the downpipe and away from the dwelling. Having a rainhead installed still will not stop a block in the downpipe where it connects to the gutter which could cause house damage but when we attend to your gutter cleaning job we clear that out for you.

At some time or other it's inevitable that your gutters will need some sort of maintenance and work done on them and with solar panels installed in this fashion it can make it rather difficult to access them. As more panels are being installed for larger systems, installers are finding it increasingly difficult to fit them all on the roof on the side posing most benefit such that they are being installed even sometimes overhanging the back of the gutter. The photo to the left shows how gutter guard was installed but missed where the panels were installed due to problems with access from the roof and from the ground. Do yourself a favour when having panels installed to give clear access of at least 3 tile rows back from the gutter so that the required trades and possibly yourself have enough space to maintain and work on your gutters.
