Türkiye announced that Australian ordinary passport-holders no longer need a visa for tourism or transit purposes if staying 90 days or less in a 180-day period.

There's been a lot of noise this week from the media about canceling Europe or long-haul trips within the next 6 months. The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) confirmed that these headlines are misleading and, at this stage, the information is inaccurate.

Flights through Asia and the Middle East are still operating and multiple safe, reliable routes to Europe are available.

While some services may be rerouted or delayed, the aviation sector is adapting, just as it has during previous disruptions.

ATIA's current advice is:

❌ Don't panic-cancel!
✅ Register with Smart Traveller for up-to-date information: www.smarttraveller.gov.au
✈️ If you're travelling soon, wait for your airline to advise you of any changes
💬 If your trip is in the coming months, we can look at an alternative route if necessary.

**Important information for Dual Australian - British Citizens travelling to the UK**

Please read if you hold both British and Australian citizenship and are planning to visit the UK after 25 February 2026!

From 25 February 2026, the UK is enforcing new entry rules:

✔️ If you are a dual Australian-UK citizen, you must enter the UK on your British passport.
❌ You cannot enter the UK on your Australian passport with an ETA if you are a British citizen.
✈️Airlines can refuse boarding if you don't have the correct passport or proof of right of abode.
🇦🇺🇬🇧 Dual citizens do not need an ETA but must use their British passport.

If you or your children have dual citizenship, this is something to sort out before booking flights. The current processing times for a UK passport renewal is 6 to 12 weeks.
