Do you know what this pink flower is? 🌸
This is the Nelumbo nucifera, or sacred lotus, often found in the calm waters of places like Corroboree Billabong in Kakadu National Park. Known for its stunning pink petals and large, floating leaves, this flower grows on tall stems, rising above the water’s surface.
After the flower fades, it transforms into a unique structure with small holes—these are the seed pods, also known as lotus "fruit." Each hole contains a seed, and the pod can remain on the plant long after the flower has wilted.
The sacred lotus thrives in nutrient-rich waters, contributing to the local ecosystem and providing shelter for various wildlife. Its striking appearance and ecological importance make it a must-see during your Kakadu adventure!

Owners Anthony & Kat Noonan commenced operations in March 2009, however both have been guiding & working in the tourism industry for over 20 years.
Based in the beautiful rural town of Humpty Doo with their 3 daughters, Anthony & Kat source all of their fresh food & supplies locally, and are very focussed on giving back to their local community.
A Territory Expeditions adventure is designed to be great fun yet also educational. We want you to take away knowledge of our region and hope that it remains as special to you as it is to us.
We are passionate about creating an authentic Territory experience and have acquired special permission by traditional land owners to visit areas within Kakadu National Park that are inaccessible to other tour companies. The itineraries are designed to spend more time discovering what makes the region special and less time back-tracking to and from camp sites outside of the National Park.
