Still need Mother’s Day plans?

Victoria’s Heartland has plenty of ways to spoil Mum, Grandma or your favourite mother-figure.

Start with brunch at a cosy café. Settle in for a long lunch with lake views, vineyard views or something beautifully chef-hatted. Or keep it simple with a local wine, a grazing platter and a very good cocktail.

From Daylesford to Castlemaine, Kyneton, Woodend, Harcourt, Maryborough and beyond, there are plenty of ways to say “thanks, Mum” without panic-buying flowers from the servo.

Book ahead. Mother’s Day tables tend to disappear fast.

Autumn really shows off in the Macedon Ranges. Come for the walks, stay for the food, and make the most of festival season while the region is looking its best.

With all nine villages joining in, the Macedon Ranges Autumn Festival brings a lovely buzz to the region. Add in the Pie and Tipple Trails and you’ve got a pretty delicious excuse to explore a little further.

To see what’s on and where to go, grab a festival map from the Woodend Visitor Information Centre or a participating venue and enjoy a very generous slice of Victoria’s Heartland, Place of Plenty.

Autumn is showing off, and this weekend is looking perfect for camping.

Across Victoria’s Heartland, there are a handful of free camping spots perfect for a low-cost weekend away, including Mount Franklin (Lalgambuk), Firth Park, Leanganook, Vaughan Mineral Springs, Warburtons Bridge and Chokem Flat.

Think bushland, crisp mornings, starry skies and campfires where permitted.

Heading off? Pick up your last-minute supplies from a local bakery, café or general store along the way and make a day of it.

Save this for later.
