If you’ve ever been lucky enough to spot an echidna shuffling along the , you’ll know they’re one of the most endearing (and slightly awkward) creatures around. 🦔

These spiky little guys are actually monotremes—one of only two mammals in the world that lay eggs (the other being their equally strange cousin, the platypus).

A few fun facts for your next pub chat:
🐜 They use their long, sticky tongues to slurp up ants and termites—no teeth required.
🥚 Baby echidnas are called puggles (which is probably the cutest thing we’ve ever heard).
🦔 When they feel threatened, they don’t run—they just flop down and pretend to be a spiky rock.

If you see one in the wild, give it space and let it do its little waddle in peace. 🤍🫶🏻
