Blacktown City Council's Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) is a state-of-the-art facility that houses stray and surrendered animals. We are the local government section for Urban Animal Management which administers legislation governing companion animals in order to keep our community safe, free from nuisance and to assist owners in being reunited with their lost pet. Our animal shelter BARC (Blacktow

n Animal Rehoming Centre) acts as a holding facility for other Councils in the Sydney region, including:

- City of Canada Bay Council
- The Municipality of Hunters Hill
- Lane Cove Council
- Parramatta City Council
- The City of Ryde
- Willoughby Council

If you have lost an animal in any of these council areas, you can search Council’s PetsOnline website to see if it is being held at BARC: http://services.blacktown.nsw.gov.au/petsonline/

Unclaimed animals at the BARC will become available for adoption. At BARC we provide end-to-end services to support our community have the best possible relationship with our pets. We help people understand how to find the greatest happiness with our furry friends. We provide learning for people, health care for animals and ongoing support services for animal lovers. Our service provides world’s best practice in terms of matching people with pets, supporting the welfare of animals and creating a vibrant, engaging environment in a landmark facility, connected to the Western Sydney Parklands. Cinnamon is a sweet but shy girl who needs a home that will allow her to let her shine in her own time. She loves to spend her days lazing in the sun and exploring the great outdoors. Although she is shy at first, once comfortable she will cosy up to you on the couch or in bed. Cinnamon will need to go to a home with a friendly, outgoing dog who can show her the way of life. Her friendly nature, does not just extend to dogs, but cats too.

Cinnamon would be most suited to a loving home, preferably with beagle experience, possibly with children and with another dog.

Jarrah is on the more reserved side, however given the time and space he needs to settle in, he will become your perfect loyal companion. He is a shy boy who likes affection, but only on his terms. He likes toys and LOVES dinner time, although he can be a bit picky with food. Jarrah loves other dogs and is also good with cats, and he will need to go to a home with another confident dog who can teach him that the world isn’t so scary.

Jarrah would be most suited to a loving home, preferably with beagle experience, possibly with children and with another dog.

🐾 International Take Your Dog to Work Day – BARC Style! 🐾

Last Friday, we brought the joy of International Take Your Dog to Work Day straight to the heart of Blacktown City - with a special visit to the Civic Centre! 🎉🐶

Staff at Council were treated to some tail wags, puppy cuddles, and a whole lot of love from two of our adorable BARC residents. 💕 Whether it was a quick pat between meetings or a full cuddle break, these pups definitely made the workday a little brighter.

Not only do these visits help socialise our shelter animals, they also bring enrichment, connection and a dose of calm to the humans too. Win-win! 🐾💛

Big thanks to everyone who raced out of their cubicles to say hello — and to our furry guests of honour for spreading smiles (and fur!) throughout the building.
