Gday fossickers.... So I see people are keen to know where i am fossicking at moment, while being bit cryptic also not lol pretty easy location....
As for fossicking days with Crexie, well unfortunately that wont be a thing as such, I will still be fossicking but more of solo missions, last couple years have been lets say a nightmare for me, and now I need to try to rebuild.... so what I will do for the fossickers is share locations and where I find is good places to camp/stay, free and paid camping... I am hoping to attend gemshows and also take my "work" cutting polishing on the road..... who knows might see ya in the field some where.....

Wasn't expecting the interest i got today about fossicking for peridot, stay tuned fossivkers will try to get more organised and get kicking off, this will be a bit different to the other days that were on.... this will not be a free for all, will be fee/donation for time involved, will have equipment for people to use..... also better camping/caravanning facilities, and better access to shops etc in a great community town.....

Sorry fossickers I tried can't do any more ... been hell of a ride I'm tired and done with olivine.... Please stop messaging me asking for olivine/quarry tours, can try tourist info center but good luck...
This is also pretty much nail in coffin for Crexie Treasures olivine creations, Thanks for following...
I am still digging stones just wont be promoting of mortlake olivine

LAPIDARY TIP

Having had closer look at some of the olivine polishedbeing sold, just a word of advice to those buying it... I can guarantee there is a crucial step in cutting polishing this material that I haven't shown, in not doing this step your olivine will crumble in time, idothis step on my olivine and can guarantee its stability for jewellery etc.... I dont want to be associated with inferior quality.... I have tested this over the years I have been cutting it and found without this process the stone will slowly crack out....
I can 100% guarantee our pieces will last for years to come.... what I've seen online will not last or is resin filled.... Believe me it's a vital step in the process of cutting this material..... I can tell by looking at cuts if step has been done, so far no one has done it I assure you this.....

Please if your going to sell olivine from Mt Shadwell at least be original in your work... bad enough being taken advantage of, We worked hard and gave a lot of time for fossickers to enjoy the quarry and pick.up some tips.... as to the acceptance of these people to quarry.... if I can't trust your words I can't trust you to do right thing, so stay home if this is you save the embarrassment of being turned around, I know more than you think please don't treat me like a fool.... we love nothing more than to share our knowledge etc... dont ruin it for others, Quarry is already at risk of not reopening.....

Thanks for the support guys....
We will be having a meeting about quarry dates in upcoming future for fossicking.... will not be in immediate but working on a more secure plan for the fossicking days, with more volunteers hopefully, so in saying that, would be interested if any lapidary/fossicking groups or rockhounds would be interested in helping out shoot me a message (once I have dates and procedures secured) to have more experience to help the new guys to fosdicking out etc...
Will keep fossicking community updated, but need to sort a lot out....

Sorry guys I gave up my weekends with my kids each month (to clarify: my kids stay every second weekend with me but due to 5-6hrs at quarry I understand they didn't enjoy it so often stayed at home 2.5hrs away) to do this and also put time into promoting this for the town etc.... Yes Crexie (Craig and Lexie) have had to reassess doing the days for a few reasons, and cost of living being high for everyone, well you get the idea.... We put more into this than we got out of it
Thanks to those who have informed me of this email, and thanks to those who supported us over the time we did the quarry..... although at times it was hard for 2 people to be expected to supervise 30-40+ people all wanting to find peridot.... we tried.....

Not sure what's around the corner as this was a big part of Crexie Treasures

Gday fossickers Just a reminder that any enquiries regarding open fossicking days at Mt Shadwell you need to contact Mortlake Tourist information centre...
Crexie do not run the quarry days we only volunteer the time we can, it is run by Mortlake Community Development Committee and Shire.... Crexie is a private business....
