The Hunter Valley in June doesn't get cold. It gets dramatic. And it's all yours.
Fog sits low over the vines. Barrel rooms smell like oak and quiet ambition. Your Shiraz gets chosen for you, not the table next to you, because there isn't one.
Winter Escape is a private tour built around your group, your pace, and your palate. The Hunter has been perfecting winter since 1828. We've had a few years to work on the experience.

Planning a special occasion?

Birthdays, anniversaries, corporate retreats, hens — we've done them all, and we never put strangers in your group.

Vineyard Escape Tours is private-only. That means exclusive access to some of the Hunter Valley's most iconic estates, with a host who knows the stories behind every cellar door.

Your group. Your day. Your Hunter Valley.

We don't do set departures or shared coaches. Every tour we run is privately yours — handcrafted around the wines you love, the pace you prefer, and the people you actually want to celebrate with.

This is what a private wine experience feels like.

He'd booked the bowling alley three years in a row. The third time, someone in the office actually groaned. 🍾

He didn't blame them. He was tired of it too. So when Q2 ended better than expected and the budget was there for something special, he called us instead. Fourteen people. A private Vineyard Escape bespoke tour through some of the Hunter Valley's most beautiful boutique wineries — private vehicle, artisan tastings, and not a single spreadsheet in sight. They had a winemaker explaining the difference between old-vine and new-vine Semillon for twenty minutes. They had a cheese and chocolate pairing that turned into a forty-minute conversation nobody wanted to end. They had, for the first time in three years of team events, a group that was genuinely reluctant to go home. The next quarter, two people mentioned it in their performance reviews. Up to 20 people. Completely customised. No designated driver required. 📩 DM us or link in bio for a corporate quote.

They'd been saying 'we should do a girls' trip' for two years. It took 47 minutes to sort once someone finally decided to actually do it. 🍇🙋‍♀️

The group chat had been going since 2022. 'We should do the Hunter Valley.' 'Yes! When?' 'Let's look at dates.' Then nothing. Until someone got fed up, DM'd us on a Tuesday afternoon, and by Thursday the whole thing was organised. Six of them. Private pickup from their accommodation. Three boutique cellar doors they'd never heard of — the good kind. Artisan cheese. Handmade chocolates. A guide who knew every winemaker by name and got them behind-the-scenes access they'd never have found on a group bus. They said it was the easiest trip they'd ever organised. That's the point. We pick you up, drive you around, and drop you back safe and smiling. You handle the group chat. We handle everything else. DM us the date and we'll take it from there. 👇

She'd been saying 'I don't want a fuss' for six months. What she actually meant was: don't do dinner and a card again. 🍷🎂

Her partner knew the difference. So instead of a restaurant booking and a generic cake, they called us. A private Vineyard Escape bespoke tour — just the two of them, plus the six people she'd actually want to spend the day with. No strangers. No fixed itinerary. No one hurrying them through the cellar door. Just beautiful wine country, afternoon light filtering through the vines, and the kind of day that still gets mentioned at dinner years later. She stopped saying 'I don't want a fuss' somewhere around the second cellar door. Funny how that works. If someone you love has a milestone coming up and you want to give them a day — not a thing — this is what we do. Groups from 2 to 20. Private. Personalised.

She'd been the bridesmaid three times. She knew exactly what a bad hens' party felt like. So when it was her turn to plan one… 🥂

The matching pyjamas. The awkward bar crawl. The one person who didn't drink and spent the whole night quietly counting down. She'd been there twice. So when her best friend got engaged, she decided to do something completely different. She booked a private Vineyard Escape bespoke tour for nine of them - boutique cellar doors, artisan cheese, handmade chocolates, and a guide who had the whole day sorted before they'd finished their first glass. Nobody had to plan anything. Nobody had to be responsible. They just showed up. When we dropped them back at the accommodation that afternoon, three of them were already asking about booking their own. That's the hens' day story we want to help you write. Up to 11 people. Fully customised. Zero stress.

There are birthdays people go to. And there are birthdays people still talk about.

The second kind is rarer than it should be.
It doesn't require a budget that doesn't make sense. It requires someone to make a decision — to actually organise something considered rather than default to the obvious option.
A private day in the Hunter Valley in winter. The group picked up. A cellar door that suits them. A lunch with no clock. A drive home in comfortable silence.
Five people. Six hours. A birthday they'll reference every time another birthday comes up.
"Remember that day in the Hunter?"
The thing about a really good day is that it sets a standard. People talk about it for years because it proved what was possible.
Worth doing at least once. Usually becomes more than that.

Every year someone says 'we should do something special.' This year, someone followed through.

You know the version where it doesn't happen.
The conversation gets started, life gets in the way, and by the time the day comes you end up at a restaurant everyone half-likes because no one had time to organise something better.
Then there's the other version.
The one where someone got it sorted early. Hunter Valley. Private tour. Winter weekend. The group picked up at the door, the whole day taken care of.
No logistics on the day. No one driving. No one pretending the restaurant was their first choice.
The best gifts aren't things. They're days people would never have organised for themselves.
Some gifts get opened. Others get remembered.

The Hunter Valley in winter is less crowded, less rushed, and quietly better in almost every way.

Summer weekends in wine country have a very particular energy.
Car parks full by 10am. Cellar doors with waiting times. Groups moving quickly because they've got four more stops to get through before 4pm.
Winter is different.
The same beautiful valley, the same great cellar doors, the same long lunches — but the noise has gone. You can actually hear the person next to you. The staff at the cellar door have time to talk. The table is yours for as long as you want it.
Most people discover the Hunter in winter by accident and immediately wonder why they'd never done it before.
If that sounds familiar, you're probably already halfway there.
