If your family loves to explore — this might feel familiar.

You want to see it all.
Make the stops.
Experience the destination properly.

But without the right plan,
it can quickly turn into too much moving… and not enough enjoying.

It’s not about slowing down —
it’s about creating a base and flow that actually works.

So you can explore freely,
without the constant pressure of what’s next.

👉 If your family loves to explore, I can plan and book a trip that gives you the freedom to move — without it becoming overwhelming.

Thank you so much to Siblings Australia for the opportunity to contribute to this important conversation.

I really value being able to share practical travel planning considerations for families and siblings who are often balancing so many needs behind the scenes.

Travel does not have to be all-or-nothing. With thoughtful pacing, preparation and the right supports, it can become something families feel more confident to approach.

If travel has felt overwhelming for your family, I hope this blog offers a helpful place to start.

As siblings, we often become planners, problem-solvers and quiet coordinators behind the scenes - especially as our brother or sister’s needs change over time.

Travel can bring excitement, but also a lot of questions:
✈️ Is it manageable?
🧳 What supports need to be considered?
🌏 How do you balance routines, environments and expectations?

That’s why we partnered with travel advisor Jade from Connected Travel - Jade Sharp, who specialises in complex family travel, to explore some of the practical ways families and siblings can approach travel planning.

Our latest blog looks at the importance of pacing, preparation and creating experiences that work for everyone involved - while also reminding siblings that they do not have to navigate it all alone.

Because sometimes hearing from others who truly understand can make the journey feel a little less overwhelming.

One of the biggest transitions in travel isn’t the airport — it’s leaving home.

Home is familiar, predictable, and safe.
Travel changes that quickly.

For many kids, knowing their home is still “okay” matters more than we realise —
who’s looking after it, what’s happening while you’re away, that everything will be safe when they come back.

Giving them that clarity can create a real sense of security before you even leave.

👉 This is the kind of thing I talk through with families when I’m planning and booking their trips — so you feel more prepared from the start. Fill in my simple enquiry form to start a planning conversation www.jadesharptravel.com.au

If you’re planning a New Zealand trip with kids, Wanaka is one most families overlook.

It has so much to do — but it’s quieter and more relaxed than Queenstown.

Which means you don’t have to rush through it.
You can actually slow the pace and stay a few days.

And that’s often what makes the biggest difference to how the trip feels.

👉 If you want a New Zealand trip that’s planned properly — not rushed — I can design and book it so it actually works for your family.

2 family holiday styles with fewer spending surprises.

With the cost of everything right now, I completely understand why families want a clearer idea of what their holiday may actually cost before they go.

That’s why I like comparing options where more is included upfront.

All-inclusive resort packages
Think Club Med-style holidays — stay in one place, meals and snacks included, activities built in, kids clubs, pools and an easier resort rhythm.

Cruises
A high-inclusions way to explore more — accommodation, main meals, entertainment, kids and teen spaces, onboard activities and multiple destinations with one unpack.

Neither option is automatically better.

It depends on your family, your travel style, your budget and how much you want included before you leave.

Current May offers include Club Med Phuket and Royal Caribbean cruise offers, so it’s a good time to compare what might fit.

October school holidays + warm weather?

Here are 5 options I’d be looking at before booking based on price alone.

Because a good family holiday is not just about the cheapest deal — it is about what actually fits your family.

Fiji — resort rhythm, kids clubs and easier days
Bali — culture, dining, pools and day trips
Vanuatu — slower island pace and fewer moving parts
Cairns — reef, rainforest, wildlife and adventure options
Hamilton Island — domestic island escape with beaches, pools and activities close by

Package examples are land only. Flights are priced separately.

If your family loves to do it all — this might feel familiar.

Big days. Big plans.
Trying to fit everything in while everyone’s excited.

And then… it tips.

Not because the destination is wrong —
but because the pace gets ahead of your capacity.

That’s where I plan differently.

Not by taking things away,
but by creating the right rhythm —
so you can still do the big things, without it all becoming too much.

👉 If you want a trip that matches your family’s energy (without the crash), I can plan and book it for you.

If travel feels hard before you even leave, it often starts with packing.

It’s not just about what goes in the bag —
it’s about what your child expects is coming with them.

When those expectations don’t match reality, it can create stress quickly.

Giving them a role in deciding what comes (and what doesn’t) can make a big difference.

👉 I plan and book travel with this level of thought built in — so your trip starts calmer, not chaotic.

If you’ve been unsure about cruising — this is a really easy way to try it.

Grinchmas in July on Carnival Cruise Line is set up to make things simple:
✅ Themed Christmas entertainment
✅ Kids clubs + structured daily activities
✅ All meals included

It works especially well for families who like a bit of structure —
you don’t have to keep figuring out what’s next, because the day is already mapped out for you.

And this short school holiday sailing makes it even easier:
✨ 3 nights | 16–19 July
🚢 Carnival Splendor
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 From $1568 for a family of 4 (Oceanview)
💳 Low deposit per person

It’s long enough to see how cruising works for your family…
without committing to a full week.

Plus, with a sensory certified cruise line, there are thoughtful supports in place that can make a real difference for some families.

If cruising has been on your mind, this is a great place to start.

Send me “GRINCH” and I’ll run through the options with you.

If you’re planning Queenstown with kids, this is something most families don’t think about.

There are family-friendly bike trails throughout the region —
and you can hire bikes with child seats.

It’s such a simple way to explore without rushing between places or overplanning your day.

You can stop when you want, take your time, and actually enjoy where you are.

It’s one of those small shifts that can completely change how the day feels.

And this is exactly what I plan into my clients’ trips — not just where you go, but how it actually works day to day.

👉 If Queenstown is on your list, I can take care of the planning and booking so it flows properly for your family.
