A man employed at the Electricity and Water Authority for 13 years has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after it was discovered he used a forged bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

The fake degree, unaccredited and unrecognized abroad, was initially authenticated by an unaware Authority employee. Hired in 2010, he repeatedly renewed his contract using fraudulent qualifications. Investigations confirmed the deception with foreign officials, revealing deliberate use of forged documents to secure employment.

The High Criminal Court convicted him of document forgery, highlighting the serious legal consequences of falsifying educational credentials.

A bakery company in Bahrain has been fined BD100,000 after being convicted of tampering with expiry dates on bakery ingredients and selling expired stock.

The Second Lower Criminal Court ordered the confiscation and destruction of goods, tools, and the closure of the company. The case began when Ministry of Industry and Commerce inspectors uncovered a warehouse stocked with expired ingredients, with altered labels covering original dates. Forensic experts confirmed the forgery.

This is the second major trade-fraud case in recent weeks, reinforcing the Public Prosecution’s commitment to protecting consumers’ health, safety, and rights.

Ministries, government departments and public institutions will be closed on Thursday (September 4) marking the anniversary of the Prophet’s birthday.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued a circular in this regard today.

The Traffic Directorate has signed a contract to deploy 500 advanced smart cameras across Bahrain, marking a significant step in enhancing road safety and traffic discipline.

Major-General Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa highlighted that these high-tech cameras can detect multiple types of traffic violations, supporting stricter enforcement under Royal Decree Law No. (30) of 2025.

The initiative aligns with government directives led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and reflects the guidance of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. The Directorate continues combining smart technology, field patrols, and awareness campaigns to protect lives and property.

Customs officials at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport arrested an Indian passenger after foiling a gold smuggling attempt on Monday.

The passenger, who had travelled from Jeddah to New Delhi via Kuwait, was intercepted while crossing the Green Channel at Terminal 3. A search of his person and baggage led to the recovery of two strips of gold paste concealed in his underwear.
