Mini Switzerland of the Padma

A char has emerged in the middle of the mighty Padma River, originally known as Char Khidirpur. Because of its unique location surrounded by water, it is now popularly known as Middle Char.

Encircled by the vast expanse of the Padma, this newly formed sandy island transforms into a lush green landscape during the right season. Cattle graze freely across the grasslands, while small thatched homes dot the landscape. The local community primarily depends on agriculture and livestock farming for their livelihood.

With its endless green fields, grazing cattle, rustic homes, and the Padma flowing all around it, the char has earned a charming nickname: “Mini Switzerland of the Padma.”

Clear August Skies Bring Mount Kangchenjunga Back Into View From Panchagarh

After months of hiding behind monsoon clouds and haze, the clear August skies of Panchagarh have once again brought the magnificent Mount Kangchenjunga into view.

From Bangladesh's northernmost corner, the snow-covered Himalayan giant appears on the distant horizon, creating a breathtaking contrast against the quiet landscapes of Panchagarh. For those fortunate enough to witness it, the moment feels almost surreal.

Kangchenjunga is more than a distant mountain here. It is a rare seasonal spectacle, appearing only when the skies are exceptionally clear, reminding us of the extraordinary landscapes that can be glimpsed from Bangladesh.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of 17 Bangladeshi migrant workers in a devastating fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Saudi Arabia.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un.

The WaveHills Tourism family expresses its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives. These hardworking expatriate Bangladeshis made immense sacrifices while working abroad to support their families and contribute to the economy of their homeland.
