Dubai has launched a $35 billion plan to build the world’s largest airport at Al Maktoum International. The project includes 400 aircraft gates, five parallel runways, and a capacity to handle up to 260 million passengers annually. Covering 70 square kilometers, it will gradually replace Dubai International Airport and reshape global aviation routes.

This expansion shows Dubai’s intent to cement itself as the leading aviation hub worldwide. By 2034, the first phase is expected to be ready, positioning the city as the center of global air travel and boosting trade, tourism, and jobs in the region.
