The nesting season has started again in Costa Rica! Last year we were so lucky to have witnessed this event! Once (or twice) a month from August through December, a mass "arribada" occurs where hundreds of olive-ridley turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. We planned our whole trip around this "arrival" and it felt as if we were watching a live National Geographic documentary 💙

Komodo island is one of the few places in the world where you can come face-to-face with a 'dragon'. Sadly one of Indonesia's most famous islands will close as of January 2020 because people started to smuggle the lizards off the island to sell them abroad?!! We have no idea why anyone would want to buy the world's biggest lizard that can grow to a maximum length of 3 metres and weigh as much as 70 kilos...!?

Luckily the rest of Komodo National Park will stay open for tourists. Check out our post to see why it's still worth visiting. Although we do hope Komodo island will reopen for visitors in the future... 😔

On the fifteenth day of the lunar new year, one of the most dangerous festivals in the world takes place in Taiwan: 💥The Yanshui Beehive Festival💥

In short: traffic is banned from Yanshui's city center, where people gather in search of giant beehives, filled with thousands of rockets. But in this case, the fireworks aren't pointed up to the sky but shoot straight into the crowds! The more times you're hit, the more luck you'll have! Watch and see 😲
